Weekly Challenge - Antoid Platoon
Hello Splinterlands Community!
It has been a while since I've made a post about the weekly challenge. I'm back and hoping to post more in the future. Now, another very strong common monster from the Chaos Legion edition has been featured in the Share Your Battle! Weekly Challenge. The so called mini Living Lava, a platoon consisting of five to seven fire ants, non other than Antoid Platoon.
An Antoid Platoon typically consists of five to seven Fire Ants, each approximately the size of a man's fist. They are well armored and wield shields and spears that, while tiny, provide a formidable defense and offense against the antoid's foes. Operating through a shared hive mind, the Antoid Platoon is employed to defend Ant Miners, other workers, the colony, and its queen. They are also known to become aggressive when invaders encroach upon their homes and surrounding territory
🐜 The Stats
Let's check the status and the abilities of this card.
Antoid Platoon is a pretty balance monster in terms of offense and defense. It is mostly position at the rear or at the front to block incoming physical damage.
The shield ability which is available at the base level is a very useful especially in the lower league where a monster attack is still low.
The Scavenger ability which is available at ★6 is also very useful in order to survive further. This is only available starting on Gold League.
Antoid Platoon main weakness is magic. It is not best to include Antoid Platoon if you are facing a magic user opponent.
Antoid Platoon is best to use in low mana matchup especially without any magic involve. It is a best substitute to Living Lava for a cheap mana requirement. A frontline that can damage an opponent while defending the rear.
Combo Cards
In terms of Summoners, there are quite summoners in the Fire element that can greatly powerup Antoid Platoon.
|
Malric Inferno can further enhance Antoid Platoon damage which is very helpful in the match. Can be use only in Wild Format. |
|
Plado Emberstorm is a legendary summoner that can provide additional speed and damage at a cost of 5 mana. Can be use in Wild Format only. |
|
In my opinion, Tarsa is the best summoner that is compatible with Antoid Platoon by boosting Antoid Platoon offensive and defensive capability with the additonal melee damage and health with only 4 mana cost. Can be use in Modern Format. |
The monsters below are a good combination with Antoid Platoon based on the usage of each monsters. The lineup is still depends on the ruleset of each match.
|
As mentioned above, Antoid Platoon is best to use in a low mana match. Flame Monkey at a cost of only 1 mana is best suitable to do armor repair in order for Antoid Platoon to continue defending the frontline. Scavo Hireling is also a good choice but at a cost of 3 mana and you can't use Scavo+Antoid repair strategy if Neutral is not allowed in the match. Can be use in Modern Format starting on Silver League. |
| Not really a direct combo with Antoid Platoon but with Radiated Brute reach ability, it can provide support to Antoid Platoon by doing additional damage to the frontline. Can be use in Modern Format |
| The main synergy of Disintegrator to Antoid Platoon is the demoralize ability which can decrease the melee damage of enemies. A decrease in melee damage is good for shield ability. Molten Ogre can also provide demoralize debuffs. In some cases such as Up Close and Personal with enough mana, I am doing a double demoralize with Living Lava and Antoid Platoon at both end. Can be use in Modern Format |
Favorable Ruleset
Favorable ruleset to pair with this Antoid Platoon:
Antoid Platoon most favorable ruleset as there are no magic that can easily defeat those ants. The shield ability will be utilized by decreasing the Melee and Range damage. A weak attack can be nullify.
With this ruleset, Antoid Platoon is one of the best frontal defense. Do not worry for those high damage monsters.
This ruleset guaranteed that Antoid Platoon's shield ability is very useful reducing every physical damage it will take.
In some cases, the super sneak and fog of war is very predictable in which direction those melee monsters will going to attack. Antoid Platoon can be position either in the front or at the rear to do defense by reducing physical damage. Super sneak without any magic can be a good opportunity to use the demoralize and shield combo ability. Antoid Platoon defending the rear with the double demoralize effect of Disintegrator and Molten Ogre. And take note, those two can also attack. |

Tarsa and Kelya Frendul meet together with the their own team to start the battle.

A massive attack from Antoid Platoon massively damage the Sea Monster.
Round 4
The end is near. The combination attack from the Fire team defeated the Sea Monster. VICTORY!
The Outcome
🐜 Final Thoughts
Antoid Platoon is a very good card for the Fire element that can provide a great help especially defending against physical attack. The mana cost is only a 4 mana which is pretty nice knowing what this card can do. The gold foil in the market for this card is also not that expensive. Owning this card is easy to do.
