Splinterlands | Flesh Golem - The Fearless Giant

avatar

Hey all,

I'm there with a new Splinterlands weekly challenge. Before talking about the fight, let's consider the new ranking system.

Initially, I was fighting in the Bronze league (though before the update I was fighting in the Champion league 😢😢) and I was earning both less DEC and less points for your wins. However, you may lose 40 or more points if you fight with an opponent who has 300-500 points at all.

The situation is like :
Earning 3 to 10 per win;
Losing 25-50 per lose...

Even though you may not lose a lot, each lose takes the points you earned from nearly 10 wins. So, it was like struggling in a mud. Eventually, I decided to fight in Silver league. For now, things are going fine but I know that I will not get as much reward chests as before for a looong time. For a healthier gameplay, everyone need to sacrifice something... Considering the existing situation of the game, I feel happy and satisfied. We are not there for a short time 😎

Let's look at the fight. I'm not competent in terms of the deck in Earth element. However, I could design my team in accordance with the rule set and won.

The Fight

The ruleset.PNG

The rule set is a bit risky. Since we cannot use ranged warriors, we will focus on melee and magic attack types. However, there is a tricky point, "Back to Basics" is the second rule. So, there was no risky factor that can prevent me from basing my team on magic attack.

I was indecisive in choosing the right summoner for the fight. Wizard of Eastwood was the second option but I realized that the only one with melee attack will be the warrior in front line. So, adding +1 health point will be a better option.

Furious Chicken_lv1.png

Not sure if it is Furious Chicken or Sacrificed Chicken 😂 Again, as usual, to get 1 or 2 damage from the opponent's warriors, I used it in the first position at the beginning of the fight. It could take 2 damage from the magic attackers. R.I.P

Flesh Golem_lv1.png

For this ruleset, I had 2 options; either Flesh Golem or Stone Golem. The pros of the Stone Golem was to block the attacks by using its armor but it is both slow and I has 1 melee attack. On the other hand, Flesh Golem is faster and stronger. 9 health points +1 from the summoner enabled it to protect the magicians in the back line. Besides, it could deal nice damage to bring victory. Even though, without healing ability, Flesh Golem may not be the first option coming to the minds, it can be very useful depending on the rules.

Wood Nymph_lv1.png

In general, I use Wood Nymph to heal the melee attacker in the first line but this time, it is used for its magic attack. Wood Nymph is an effective warrior if it can be cared and positioned accordingly. I always use it when I choose Earth element to fight.

Khmer Princess_lv1.png

I believe that nearly half of the victories are related to the effective use of low mana warriors. Khmer Princess deals 1 magic attack and it just costs 2 mana. Even from the first level, it is good at eliminating the warriors in the front line.

Goblin Sorcerer_lv1.png

Goblin Sorcerer is insane. Both deals magic attack and has sneak ability. To be honest, if a warrior has magic attack, it is one step ahead as for me. Also, with sneak ability, one can easily eliminate the major source of attack in the deck of the opponent.
In this battle, I used it for its type of ability and it did a great job, too.

Mushroom Seer_lv1.png

Mushroom Seer one of my favorite warriors in Earth deck. It both deals 2 magic attack and decreases the magic ability of the rivals magic attackers. In the battle, it was one of the carriers and I'm glad to choose all of my warriors.

As long as the magic attackers could be protected successfully, I was waiting for a victory. As Flesh Golem could survive enough while decreasing the number of the rival warriors one by one, I won.

What would I do differently if I play the same match again?
Well, considering my deck, I have not got enough mobility to chance the warriors but, maybe, I would use a warrior in exchange of Wood Nymph to increase the defensive side of the deck. However, the way we fought was more suitable for the rules.

Please watch the fight and leave your comments.
