Just to throw a massive spanner in the works to your reasoning - only 1.5 M packs have currently been sold, so airdrop number 2 is not yet released.

If they only sell 1.9M packs by Jan 17th, would't EVERYONE buying in the GS qualify for all airdrops from no. 2 onward, or at least (more realistically) if say 2. something million were sold, at least from no.3 onwards.

No you definitely misunderstood them, I remember when Aggroed mentioned this, it was in response to a question about what if when general sale starts people buy through the airdrops so fast that people miss out just by being a couple hours late, so he said on first day of general sale only, if you buy your pack during that first day, you are eligable for every airdrop in the general sale even if 14m packs are sold by the time you buy yours. Was about fairness for average player in general sale.
