Tools of the Trade

Howdy! I'm just your run of the mill numbers nerd. Why take tips from Jo Shmo over here? Well, let me start with a little about myself. I'm an electrician by day and a DIY stock/asset analyst by night. When I was just a wee little lad playing World of Warcraft I quickly found I had a knack for the marketplace. I got WoW rich and got hooked on trading. 10 years later, after growing those skills, studying real world market trends and asset evaluation, I have come full circle. I am doing what my childhood self dreamed of. I'm rocking a videogame marketplace, and making real world dollars doing it!

So, enough about that nerd right? lets make some money!

The key to playing any market is using any and all tools available. This is true for any market, and holds its weight in Splinterlands. Peakmonsters is where you will find all the tools I will talk about. It is a 3rd party marketplace for Splinterlands cards, and its where the real action goes down!

On Peakmonsters you will find some real quality of life gems, for renters and owners alike! I wont be going too much into those, or the rental system. The rental marketplace, as legendary as it is, does not affect us when flipping cards.

To start off, You can view some important information in the standard grid display. Like the highest current bid, lowest price of a single BCX, and lowest price for Multi BCX card. This is a great place to start when looking to flip cards. The bigger the gap on high bid/low cost, the better. It also displays the market price, being the price of the last one sold. You can cruise through these pages to try and identify some cards you want to flip. You can just pull the classic bid low sell high! But, how can you make sure your not overspending? Since cards are priced in USD, but paid for in DEC, you got a couple more things to watch.

Peakmonsters makes this complicated math super easy. To try and narrow down DEC/USD price conversions on every trade would just flat out be crazy. Unless a computer can do it! Hop over to the compare display on Peakmonsters and solve all the problems you did not even know you had! These are the tools I use. It's just basic information but it will put you ahead of alot'a folks.

Here you can find the cheapest CP on the market, sorted, in 1 swift button click hahaa. Just compare by best CP/Cost ratio and boom! Now you know if the cheapest epics are a better deal then the cheapest rare or common. You can use this info however, and check whatever you like. But having access to is is important! Thanks peakmonsters!

My bread and butter, and the real money maker, is comparing price above burn. I value airdrops myself, and that's how this little profitable obsession started. With DEC and cards both moving at different rates, you could really buy and sell a card for the same USD to profit. This little function lets you trade cards against DEC value, regardless of how the market is doing. So I value cards based on there DEC price. It tends to drive the USD price, but it's delayed. This leads to windows to sell your cards and buy them back leaving you extra profit. I did this for about a week, then I was less concerned with buying my cards back. I moved funds in to keep doing this fulltime

My last tip, is SPEND TIME watching the market. I wouldn't walk into a guitar store and try to start flipping them without knowing anything about them. Spend some time learning about what the cards do, what they sold for in the past, and get a feel for what a current "fair" price would be. You will find good deals and steller value way easier this way.

So, mix it all together. Use the tools, learn the history, stay up to date with the market. And most importantly, BID!
