SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! DARK HA'ON

avatar

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Dark Ha'on card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: Dark Ha'on

Dark Ha'on is a legendary dark splinter card. It has taunt and flying from the start. As it levels up, it earns scavenger, void magic and magic reflect. With its stats, I think its a great tank because of the tank ability and high hp. However I don't really use my dark deck as much and I generally don't use it because the mana cost for this card is a bit too high for me.

I do have a level 1 Dark Ha'on that I won during a giveaway in the past. I don't really remember where I won it but I think its a fairly decent card but I avoid my dark deck usually like the plague because my win rate there is fairly bad.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

8-15 ruleset.png

The rule set this time is armored up and holy protection. This is an interesting ruleset since it means more monsters are better than less monsters. Also since there is armor, magic type monsters are better for this rule sets. We have 25 mana available and three different splinters to choose from. 25 mana is not a lot so I will be quite limited in my setup if I do choose to use Dark Ha'on.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Contessa L'Ament. Out of my death summoners, this is the highest level and the 25 mana cost available means using Mimosa isn't a good choice. It comes with a -1 ranged attack summoner buff which can be useful depending on what cards my opponent brings along.

My current plan is to use Dark Ha'on to tank while my magic type cards do damage. Also since we have holy protection, I plan on filling up every single position available in my line up to take advantage of the armored up and holy protection.

Round 1

8-15 round 1.png

Comparing my opponent's lineup to mine, I see he doesn't have very cards with high health available. With the flying ability on Dark Ha'on, it should also dodge some of my opponent's melee and physical attacks. On his line up, there is only one magic type and both of his blast type will receive my summoner's debuff. So overall I think I will have a decent chance of winning this match.

Round 2

8-15 round 2.png

I didn't realize that my opponent's mage has a heal ability and his flame monkey will restore the armor every turn. It might be a long drawn out fight but neither side has taken any damage. My mages will do 3 damage per turn so I will outdamage my opponent's heals. As for the armor, I don't have to worry since most of my damage will be magic damage. I think I will fast forward through the match since it does seem like it will take a while to play out.

Round 4

8-15 round 4.png

I have managed to kill off my opponent's front line tank. The next two monsters have less than 3 health so I think I will definitely be able to kill them off soon. My Dark Ha'on is doing a great job of staying alive but my slime is already almost dead after all the blasts from my opponent's ranged monsters.

Round 5

8-15 round 5.png

My slimeball is now dead but I have managed to knock down the flame monkey on my opponent's side. Since magic attacks can't miss, my opponent will definitely lose his healer before my phantom soldier loses health.

I don't think the rest of the fight will be very interesting so I will fast forward to the end. Once the mage on my opponent's side dies, the ranged monster in front won't be able to attack. I don't need to factor in luck because magic attacks can't miss.

8-15 conclusion.png

The match ended with my win. I didn't think the chicken would still be alive but I am fine with it living through the fight.

Conclusion

The battle this time did go as I expect. I was a bit more worried about this fight after noticing the armor restoration and heals but my opponent's cards did not have much health. With 13 health and 3 armor after all the buffs are applied, it survived for quite a few turns and did a good job as a tank.

My summoner Contessa L'Ament was useful during this match. It reduced the damage from the blast monsters in the back and allowed my Dark Ha'on to last longer. I don't think there was really anything I needed to change in my line up. However I do think my opponent could of used a chicken to improve his chances. It may not of changed the outcome of this match but it would give his ranged monsters an extra hit or two. Also I see no point in not using the rule set buffs.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would of done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
