SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! DRAGONS

avatar

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific splinter type and on this week's post it is the Dragon Splinters. For this challenge, I plan to use the Byzantine Kitty card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Dragon Card: Byzantine Kitty

Byzantine Kitty is an amazing card since it heals your front-line monster every turn and adds a buff of speed and true strike. It has a lot of variety but it does help your tanks survive while you deal damage. Also the true strike ability makes it so you don't miss so monsters with flying and dodge won't affect your physical or ranged attacks.

I don't exactly use this summoner much but I was lucky to get a copy of this from the Untamed airdrop. Like with most cards, the price has exploded in price and even a level 1 card right now is worth $279. I personally like to combine this card with other cards that have the heal ability since it means they are healed twice per turn.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

8-22 ruleset.png

The rule set this time is Holy Protection and Noxious Fumes. This rule set tends to be quite annoying but I purposely think the Byzantine Kitty summoner I chose is perfect for this rule set. With 99 mana available, I can choose any card I want without any limitations but I am limited to fire, death and dragon.

My plan for this rule set is to just outlast my opponent. The poison will definitely be annoying and I am conflicted about choosing fire or dragon splinters. So I just choose fire as I was starting to lose out on time. However I am going to try out using Almo Cambio legendary card that I got a few weeks ago. Since it can't get any negative effects, poison won't hurt it and it can tank a few more hints. There is also the legendary eye card with heal to tank afterwards.

Round 1

8-22 round 1.png

First off, my true strike ability directly counters my opponent's summoner because I have true strike. So that is already nice right off the bat. I was a little concerned at first but my opponent can't do much damage to start off and my cards should definitely survive because of my summoner. I do think that this will be a long drawn out battle.

Round 2

8-22 round 2.png

I didn't take much damage and I managed to take out my opponent's Lord A. I don't have any magic monsters so I don't really feel like its threatening.

Round 3

8-22 round 3.png

I took out my opponent Gelatinous Cube. Of course now I have to deal with his robo dragon knight dealing damage as well. Now this is where the tough part happens. If I can finish off my opponent fast enough then I don't have to wait till fatigue kicks in.

Round 4

8-22 round 4.png

I don't think I can finish off my opponent before fatigue kicks in. My dragon jumper will die off due to poison and my other damage dealers will also start dying off from poison in the next few turns. I am not worried because I do have byzantine kitty and the heal ability.

Round 5

8-22 round 5.png

Well based on the health I have left on my cards, I will only have my eye as a damage dealer after poison kicks in. So this means it will be a fatigue battle so I will fast forward to the end because both sides will be healing ourselves to full health each turn.

8-22 conclusion.png

After another 19 rounds, I finally kill my opponent using fatigue. It did help that my eye was in the backline dealing extra damage otherwise I would have to wait for a few more rounds.

Conclusion

The battle went exactly as I expected. I was really hoping that the battle would end without having to go to fatigue. The byzantine kitty kept my cards alive long enough for me to drain down quite a bit of my opponent's monster. I was actually surprised that Lord A and cube went down so fast. I do think I could of done a better job using the death cards instead of fire splinters. I think the Gorlodon would of been a better choice for the reach monster but I don't think it would really affect the results that much.

As for my opponent's side, I would of probably focused more on dealing a bit more damage. I think he did a good job choosing high health monsters. I felt like my opponent was also trying to outlast me by placing the eye as his last monster. Unfortunately I had the byzantine kitty so that was most likely to fail.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would of done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

That looks like fun. Three idea that you got that card from an air drop and it's worth over $200 is actually pretty sick. I might reconsider gaming, and it seems like a great way for new comers to get into crypto. Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the contest.

All the current packs are sold out right now but anyone who buys packs gets some airdrops of the newly released cards when they come out. So its best to buy those cards when they are released. Of course legendary cards require quite a bit of luck or enough packs bought.
