Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle! ANTOID PLATOON

avatar

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Antoid Platoon card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: Antoid Platoon

Carrion Shade is a fire splinter card that costs 4 mana. It starts with the shield ability and learns scavenger at level 6. The stats are on the low side but the shield ability makes up for it and it can also be used in little league matches.

I do use this card from time to time and I have a level 3 gold foil version of this card. Most of the time, I don't use this card as it can't attack from places other than the front line. It does work well as a sneak tank because of its shield ability. If you have a level 6 version, then it might be even better as it gets more health as more monsters die.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is weak magic and broken arrows. This ruleset allows my armor to be hit first before my health gets hit (magic monsters). There is 38 mana available and I can only use fire and dragon splinters.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Daria Dragonscale. As I only have 38 mana available and dragon plus fire available, Daria for its +1 melee attack is better for me. It will also have access to the highest-level cards that I can also play.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Daria Dragonscale4Summoner+1 melee

Manticore42ndReach and backup tank
Uraeus33rdSneak and shield

Dragon Jumper75thOpportunity
Antoid Platoon46thTank for sneak monsters
Total Mana:38

My plan is just to have a lineup filled with Grum as my tank followed by a backup reach monster. Then I follow the rest of my lineup with melee monsters that can attack and the Antoid Platoon at the very spot to tank the sneak attacks.

Round 1

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I am not liking all the sneak monsters there. I do think I have a chance because Grum won't be dying anytime soon and I will be able to boost it's stats even further when it kills an enemy card.

Round 2

round 2.png

The Sandworm missed so I was quite lucky and my Dragon Jumper can do another round. I did lose my Antoid Platoon but it took 3 sneak monsters' attack. The game is still in my favor due to Manticore and Grum if I don't miss.

Round 3

round 3.png

Unless I miss a ton of attacks, I should win this match. Grum has shield and 6 melee attack. Combined with Manticore, I will be able to wipe out the Sandworm.

As I thought, I won the match using Grum and the rest of my lineup.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. Antoid Platoon took a few hits for me and it allowed my lineup to deal more damage. As my opponent was focused on sneak attacks, Grum did a great job of killing off monsters and getting bloodlust.

Daria was a great choice as a summoner as it increase the attack on my entire group. I do think my opponent's lineup was fairly strong. That sneak line-up can be devasting and it was boosted with their summoner's +1 attack and +1 health. Most of my opponent's monsters were faster than mine so the Antoid Platoon was very helpful.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
