Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle! XENITH ARCHER
Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Xenith Archer card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.
Featured Monster: Xenith Archer
Xenith Archer is a neutral splinter card that costs 2 mana. It has no skill and its stats go up as you level it up. The stats itself isn't very strong but the best thing about this card is the low mana cost and neutral splinter type. This means that you can use this card in a variety of matches. It's too bad that my Xenith Archer is only level 1 so it is not as useful.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The rule sets for this match are back to basics and little league. This means that there are no skills in this fight and I am limited to cards with a mana cost of 4 or less. There is also 58 mana available and I am limited to earth or death splinters.
The summoner I choose to use this time is Wizards of Eastwood. I don't have enough magic monsters to make up my line up so removing any armor on my opponent's team is nice. At the same time, I can use my cards to their maximum ability.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Wizard of Eastwood | 3 | Summoner | -2 Armor |
Biceratops | 4 | 1st | Tank with both armor and health |
Spirit Shaman | 4 | 2nd | Damage Dealer |
Elven Mystic | 4 | 3rd | Damage Dealer |
Barking Spider | 4 | 4th | 6 health ranged monster |
Xenith Archer | 2 | 5th | Damage Dealer |
Child of the Forest | 3 | 6th | Damage Dealer |
Total Mana: | 24 |
My plan is just to have a lineup with a melee tank followed by some mages and then some ranged monsters. It's a fairly simple lineup because of the back-to-basics and little league rule sets.
Round 1
At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I stand a decent chance. Most of his tanks are up in front and he has a melee monster that can't attack in the 2nd position.
Round 2
We traded our first monsters but not much has changed since the previous round.
Round 3
It really hurts that my Xenith Archer missed an attack. However, I still have a chance in this match
Round 4
My opponent has not been missing any attacks and it's going to be a close match. I need miss an attack otherwise I will lose this match.
After a few rounds of trading blows, I lost the match because of a single miss in the 2nd round. My opponent did not miss so I was left without many options.
Conclusion
The battle this time around did not involve much strategy but I lost due to bad luck. I did the best with what I had available because I only had access to earth and death splinters. However, I do think that I could have swapped Xenith Archer for a higher health archer and it would have won me this match.
It's too bad that Wizard of Eastwood was not as helpful as I wanted because my opponent did not use any shield monsters. However, I do think my opponent had a good lineup. If anything, I wonder why he made the choice to have a melee monster in the 2nd spot as it reduces his damage in these type of matches.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
That was closely contested, I miss having Twisted Jester
