Splinterlands: The Impact Of The Changes On Investment & Value

Changes are coming to splinterlands constantly and you'll need to stay abreast of all the development to take advantage of these changes and the prospective rewards that might come with it them.

For example, recently the modern and wild modes were added, and I honestly do not know why this was so, but let me explore some possibilities.

The first is that playing ranked battles in the past were in a singular model. it's possible that adding another mode would make people want to go shopping. I mean if you're playing in the modern mode, you're going to be limited, some cards, missen here and there, some game rules tweaked to suit the cards

Some Vivid Omission

The difference with the wild mode is quite noticeable, for example, the furious chicken. Now the impact on the play would be that people might try to spend some money purchasing other neutral cards to try and compete in the modern mode.

Some cards are necessary to the winning formula of many players and bots alike and responsible for raking in the money, now there would be other cards in the market that might replicate the functions of the cards missing in the modern mode, and some players might just spend some cash trying to buy these cards, after competing in two modes only mean one thing: more money.

The Impact On The Rental Market

Although this is merely speculating. I couldn't find myself playing without the furious chicken and I know that if I had the money, I might buy a neutral card that might play that role. It could also mean that these modes were meant to increase playing time and have players and bots putting in more time for extra rewards.

Since the modes would differently offer separate rewards at the end of the season. I mean some wealthy players have dedicated their assets to passively earning income from the game.

I mean, if this is quite the case, then it means more money into the rental market or more money to purchase more cards. I mean... The rental market is quite important to splinterlands in general.

Assets & More Use Case

The money it generates is humongous. People who are buying assets are doing so because it's not solely to keep them for CP, renting passively helps keep the value in the game and it could be that this diversification of mode was also to keep the rental market very relevant and profitable.

I've played in the two modes, but I have decided to stick to one. However, this makes me wonder how the rewards would come because dishing out more rewards would only mean one thing; decrease in the value of the reward, it's probably going to be classic quantity over quality.

Again, this is hypothetical, and the reason why I've said this is that, the rewards might prove to be usual, but then, there's a pool, I believe whatever reward that would be dished out would have to malign itself to that pool.

Feedback After The Experience

It's safe to say that Splinterlands is experiencing some huge changes and the tweaks are either negatively impactful or positively influencing. It's difficult to influence every player the same way.

This is because of the huge disparity in deck value, intentions for playing the game, drive, or even motive. Irrespective of this these changes are coming in to majorly increase retention, maintain value, and better user experience.

One thing is, I cannot categorically affirm the need for the new modern mode. No one can until we've gathered some game on our belt, done some evaluation of the rewards, and weigh the impact it would on the rental market and the prospective game time it might accrue.

Splinterland keeps updating and changing many things everyday just to make the game better and to attract more investors.

Although, too much changes everyday and every season can hurt the consistency of the game.

I think the new modern mode makes it easier for the newer players to play fairly but it made me realize that I need to upgrade my Chaos Legion deck.

That's a fair point though, nevertheless, we have to wait a while to say it was good or it wasn't.

I agree that is it very important to keep up with the changes here. I really need to start attending the AMA's and reading more. I have quite a few rental assest and I think I could be doing better if I pay attention.

Yeah, you could tweak your rentals and try to squeeze more out of the DEC you're getting. Sure could pay better.

Man these changes are tasking and they are not making the game any easier. I think the reason for the Morden format is value preservation for the old cards and also giving those that joined the game late a chance to play nd hopefully grow there investment to have a chance at affording the old cards that are on the more expensive side.

You're absolutely right. So it seems like it should be a worthwhile change and I hope more new users can actually take advantage of these incoming changes

It should be. I feel for the creators. Striking a balance to make profit while keeping everyone happy, topped buy on boarding new users is not an easy task for them
