He wandered the Splinterlands serving one master over other master. From each of the splinter faction, he learned their lore and their way of fight. Knowledge have inspired him to become the wise one.

Neutral collection have few selection of magic card (among them are Venari Spellsmith, Elven Mystic, Scavo Technomancer, etc.). This make Magi of Chaos a primary choice for magic damage card. What's more Magi is the only card that start at Level 1 with 2 magic damage. This power also reflected from its higher mana cost of 6 mana. Also with 5 health, Magi is quite versatile to withstand several attack. Although other than that, Magi lack any additional abilities and speed.

Cons.png
1. It's an epic card, thus it's already stronger than most of the other card. With 2 magic damage, Magi is the best magic attacker to complement any of your Splinter formation.1. As Neutral card, Magi undermined by Splinter with vast magic card choice (for example Earth splinter).
2. With 5 health, Magi can turn into sub-tank. In low and medium battle, If utilize correctly, it can turn into last bastion to protect the remaining back row.2. With only 2 speed, Magi will mostly lose initiative. In low and medium mana battle, where opponent utilize kamikaze card (high damage, but low health); battle usually can finish in 2nd or 3rd round. Magi might be eliminated before it have chance to attack.

Market Price Analysis

Market price for Magi of Chaos have been fluctuating in the past 6 months, but there's a downtrend in the Gold Foil card. Magi of Chaos is third most expensive card in the Chaos Legion's Neutral collection. Currently regular card cost around $ 1.65 and gold cost around $ 9.60. This price make Magi of Chaos less affordable. In our opinion, with regular-gold price ratio at the lowest gap (1:6), purchasing gold foil will be a better choice.

Progression Analysis

Screenshot 2022-10-09 200050.png

The major progression come from the magic damage. At level 3, Magi gain damage increase, making it into card with 3 magic damage. This will make Magi really powerful at Silver League. In addition at level 6 (max), additional damage will be added, making it in card with total 4 magic damage. But other than that, it only got 2 health increase, and what more concerning is its speed stand still at 2. This overall progression will turn Magi more into glass canon card. Thus Magi will need more and more shielding from other cards at higher league. Hindrance also come from extra cost needed to progress Magi; as already mentioned before.

Rulesets To Be Watched

RulesetStrategy
image.pngArmored Up would makes melee and ranged card put extra effort to penetrate. Magic would be the best attack to directly hit the health.
image.pngNothing better than magic attack combined with Explosive Weaponry. The blast damage would chip health of back row card before they move to first row.
image.pngAs magic card always have lower damage compared to melee and ranged, thus Weak Magic will make magic card less favorable.
image.pngSince most magic card have rather low speed, including Magi of Chaos; thus Reverse Speed will make Magi got better initiatives.

Here's one of my close victory using Magi of Chaos. Click Here for the battle link. The battle have 60 mana cap, with Reverse Speed and Even Stevens modification.

For my formation, I used:

1st Row : Elven Defender
2nd Row : Wave Brood
3rd Row : Demented Shark
4th Row : Deeplurker
5th Row : Magi of Chaos
6th Row : Mantoid

My opponent formation:

1st Row : Elven Defender
2nd Row : Diemonshark
3rd Row : Deeplurker
4th Row : Feasting Seaweed
5th Row : Supply Runner
6th Row : Mantoid

We both use Water Splinter and use Keyla Frendul. It's a wrong choice, as the +1 speed just make the card slower in Even Stevens ruleset. Both formation seemed quite equal. Opponent have Diemonshark and Elven Defender which make a strong double-tank. And the back row filled with high-damage melee and ranged cards. Meanwhile although Wavebrood are not as strong as Diemonshark, but with Reverse Speed rule, Wavebrood turn the tide by being the fastest card in the formation.

Round 1 and both monster start to brawl. Wavebrood does it job very well, it absorb 3 out of 4 incoming attack. Meanwhile my Elven boosted by Inspire abilities managed to chip opponent's Elven armor.

image.png

At Round 2, luck doesn't seemed to favor my formation. Wavebrood failed to evade any attack at all, and thus fate come upon it. On the contrary, my formation destroyed Elven, and thus the second tank, Diemonshark, come forward. Mantoid and Deeplurker performed very well to again chip the back row armor and health.

image.png

Round 3 started with surprise attack as Deeplurker, Feasting Seaweed, and Mantoid ambushed Magi of Chaos and directly eliminated it! Without Magi of Chaos things start to get difficult. Luckily this ambush open chance for Deeplurker and Mantoid to strike counterattack. And in ficious rage, they strike and destroy Feasting Seaweed and Supply Runner.

image.png

By the start of Round 4. My formation lead with 4 card against 3 card. Both formation exchanging blow one another until Round 6, where the fight locked into 2 versus 2.

image.png

Again Inspire ability proof to be a winning factor. The extra damage make fatal blow into Diemonshark health. And by the end of Round 9, the fight turn into last man standing between both Deeplurker. And with 1 armor and 7 health remaining, my Deeplurker secured it victory!

The above might not be the best battle with Magi of Chaos. But it shows how Magi really is a glass canon. Magi would mostly become the first target from all card with opportunity and snipe ability. Even if Wavebrood provide distraction with its taunt ability, it only survive to Round 2, and Round 3 started with Magi eliminated without any fight. Therefore Magi of Chaos is not an easy card, position and composition must be taken care to ensure its safety.
