A little used but incredibly useful card and also a great investment.

Meet Wave Brood, a little used and even underestimated card from the water deck that will be an excellent defense for your battles.

For those who still don't know this card then know that it has recently arrived along with chaos legion so it belongs to this edition and it's an epic card, but you hardly see this card in battle so maybe you don't know much about it and that's why this post it will help as I will explain how it works and also how it can be a good option to have in your collection because it can be very valuable in the future.

I'll start with your stats and abilities.

  • STATS AND ABILITIES

imag 2.png

Wave Brood is a ranged card and you may be wondering how it will be an excellent defense if ranged cards don't attack in first position, the answer to that question will be in its abilities and if you already know them from the image above then already should have an idea of how it's going to work, but before I explain them you can also see its stats and they are not very attractive since its attack is low and its speed too so it won't be that type of card that will cause a lot damage in battle because his main role is defense and as you can see his health is quite high and that's very good for him.

Let's go now to your abilities because they make you even better and will be very useful for battles.

imag 3.png

The ability Taunt makes all enemy cards attack it whenever possible (there are abilities that ignore this and attack other cards), this may seem bad since it will take most of the damage but as it will serve to defend then it's great for him and you'll soon understand why.

imag 4.png

The ability Close Range makes ranged cards able to attack in the first position so don't be afraid to put it in that position because it will still continue attacking normally and also as it has the ability Taunt it won't make much difference which position you choose so it stays your choice.

imag 6.png

The Void ability is where you start to understand why it will be a good defense for your battles because this ability causes the damage taken from magic attacks to be reduced by half, being more specific it works like this: if a card with 3 of magic attack to attack him then the correct thing would be to do 1.5 damage, but this is not possible in splinterlands so this value is rounded up and becomes 2, if the attack value is 4 then the damage will be and if the value of attack is 5 so the damage is going to be 3 and I think you got the idea, so since cards with magic attack are often used in battles and there are even battles where there are only cards with magic attack, this ability will be incredibly useful and will do making Wave Brood an excellent defense against them.

imag 7.png

The Return Fire ability isn't really a defensive ability but it serves in a similar way and will be very useful in battles as it makes every time a ranged card attacks Wave Brood it takes part of the damage dealt back and works with the same logic of the Void ability that I mentioned before, if the attack is 3 then the damage is 2, if it is 4 the damage is 2 and if it is 5 the damage is 3 and so on and one thing I forgot to mention in Void is that if the attack is 1 then the damage taken is 0.

Another thing that will help a lot and that I've mentioned before is the fact that his life is quite high so even if he doesn't have cards with magic attack or ranged on the enemy team which is very difficult to happen he will still be a good defense since which has a high health, besides it belongs to the water deck and there are very good summoners in this deck that will help it to be even better, an example would be Kelya Frendul who is an amazing summoner.

Now that you know it and its usefulness so let's get to the financial side of the card.

  • PRICE

imag 8.png

Right above you can see the current value of this card at the moment this post is being published and the value of Wave Brood can even be considered high if you compare it to other cards of the same edition and rarity that cost almost 3x less than it and this already shows that it is a strong card since there is a good demand of people buying it and it is also a strong indication that when the sale of chaos legion packs ends it will cost much more.

imag 9.png

This other image shows the monthly sales chart of Wave Brood and if you look at its value it always tries to go back to the value it was before when it has a fall and sometimes it even goes up a little more and currently it is at a "stable" value " if you look at the last 2 weeks then if there is a drop in this chart it could be a great opportunity to buy as the trend is for it to go up again just like the chart shows.

I consider Wave Brood to be a very useful card and in certain battles it can be what will give you the victory, but the card alone can't do all the work and that's why it's always good to have a strategy for it, so having it in your collection for when this type of battle comes is a great choice and i believe it has a lot of potential in its value for the future.

  • LORE

A Wave Brood is a corrupted water elemental twisted by the Chaos Legion. Summoners distort the magic used to create the elemental, making it a chaotic and fearsome creature. Wave Broods are completely devoted to their summoner and are often used in naval warfare, sinking ships and guarding the Legion's fleets and forces.
“Open fire!” the Uman captain cried, bringing her trident down in a sweep gesture.

The ship's cannons boomed, and a salvo of round shot exploded from them, flying through the air toward the Chaos Legion's armada. Their aim was true. They would slam into the closest of the enemy's ships, leaving the vessels dead in the water.

In the distance, a robed figure on the deck of one of the Legion's ships raised his arms, and the water between the Azmare's fleet and the Chaos Legion's bulged. Its color changed from a deep blue to a harsh white and coalesced into a massive, towering figure with churning limbs and a nightmarish visage of glowing eyes and gaping maw.

A wave Brood.

The cannonballs slammed into the creature's expansive chest, the water churning. Then, they hurtled back out, directly at the Uman captain's ship.

“Take cover!” she cried. The iron balls tore through the ship's hull in a thunderous splintering of wood. One cut through the mast, and it fell sideways, sail and all, to land in the ocean with a splash.

The Wave Brood churned toward the wounded ship, its chest where the cannonballs had struck it already healed. The Uman captain raised her trident in a futile gesture of defiance. Her crew scrambled for cover around her.

Then the Wave Brood crashed down upon them.
