How many vouchers will you get?

Hello Everyone,

I attended the AMA yesterday and took part in the aftermath on the discord with the rest of you. During this I noticed a lot of people are having trouble figuring out how many vouchers they will get and what exactly it all means. As such, I want to give you guys the math and a few demonstrations showing what it will take to get to the 50 voucher promo and discuss a few other cool topics.

What are Vouchers
Vouchers as of yesterday are going to be a utility token for Splinterlands. Right now their primary purpose is going to be a redemption ticket to allow you to purchase a pack during the pre-sale. Per the AMA they plan to also continue distributing the vouchers well after the promotion but the vouchers themselves will not be required for ALL packs. During the AMA the Splinterlands team noted that at least 50% would be available for purchase without having to use a voucher. This does mean though that even after pre-sale they will be required to some extent as there are going to be 15M total packs and the pre-sale is only the first 1M.

Vouchers are a token similar to any other cryptocurrency and that does mean that as a user, you will be able to buy, sell, and transfer your tokens around however you desire. This also means that they are going to have real value as players attempt to scoop them up and buy packs to get that sweet promo deal. I'm speculating officially here that vouchers are going to be between $1 and $2 during the first month with some likely selling as high as $10 solely due to the hype related to the promos.

Promos
The primary reason vouchers are going to be hot up front is due to the promo system. During the first 1M packs sold, promos will be given out with each pack having a .02% chance to contain one of the promo cards. In addition, a guaranteed promo card will be given out at the 50 pack mark and a GF version at 1000. This means for a guaranteed promo card you are spending $200 + 50 vouchers to hit the 50 pack limit and $4000 + vouchers for the GF. 1000 packs will also get you a cool title and the Mavericks role on the discord. Note that the promo packs are estimated to sell out in about 30 days but it could be longer depending on how hungry for CL cards we all are.

That brings me to the promo card itself. I have not seen ANY proof as of yet but the rumor is that this promo card is a new Death legendary splinter. If that is true, this is going to be the most expensive promo on the market hands down and potentially will be the most expensive card outright if the powers are also good.

How to get Vouchers
Vouchers will be given out daily starting in October based on the amount of SPS you have staked directly within the game. A total of 33,333.33 vouchers will be given out every day which means at minimum for 1M packs to be sold it will take 30 days to hit 1M vouchers. The way you can calculate how many vouchers YOU will get is by taking the amount of sps you have staked, dividing it by the total amount of staked SPS (currently 95,252,681), and then multiplying that % by the daily voucher amount 33,333. I've put together a few examples so you can see how various amounts of sps will impact your voucher gain. Splintercards has also added a calculator on the site to tell you exactly how much.

As you can see, it will take a significant amount of SPS staked (for us non-whales) to get to that 50 voucher number within 30 days and likely an unattainable amount of SPS for most players to hit the 1000 voucher mark. This means that you are going to be in the rat race attempting to buy up vouchers and this is also what is going to cause voucher prices to be so high, higher possibly than the cost of packs themselves. My advice, unless you already have large amounts of SPS, your money is probably better used waiting for the pre-sale promo to end. Even then, if vouchers still remain above $1, I'd wait until voucher requirements to drop entirely. For those of you that will earn 'some' vouchers you have a hard decision to make. In the short term, you could absolutely make money selling your vouchers to those hunting that promo card. Either way, if you are going to buy packs, you should try to do so with SPS.

If you are just starting your research into Splinterlands you can sign up for an account here and get earning with as little as purchasing the $10 Spellbook.

So thats it for today but for those that follow you'll notice we didn't start with a shot of Atlas or Nobu today so I'll end this with Atlas' worst nemesis, Bath Time! Those sad little eyes...

Until next time!

Thanks a lot for this explanation, that is very helpful.

I couldn't listen in to the AMA, was at work, followed the chat a little but zoned out at some point because it was just confusing.

And how do you manage to resist Atlas' gaze?! 😁
