Hi guys, the battle challenge was for MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN but currently I am renting out my EARTH splinter which is why I chose GARGOYA LION in my battle challenge for this week.

First, we have to know the story of *GARGOYA LIONBold***** and according to the splinterlands lore; The new gargoya creatures have all developed distinct personalities and gone separate ways. Many of them cannot be controlled by any authority, but others are natural leaders. The one with the most commanding presence is the Gargoya Lion which used to perch just above the tower’s drawbridge as a guardian. Not only is the lion the largest of the gargoya race, but he also appears to be the strongest. The fight against the Chaos Legion has called him to Praetoria, where he now waits with a small band of gargoya followers.

GARGOYA LION has 3 abilities which are FLYING that will be automatically unlocked at level 1, and VOID at level 5 and lastly ENRAGED at level 3.

CARD PRICE

GARGOYA LION is a neutral common monster that gives 5 CP per bcx while the gold foil version gives 125 CP per bcx.

At the time of writing, a regular foil 1 bcx of this card costs $0.010 and when upgraded to level 5 to unlock the VOID ability it will require 60 BCX and the total costs would be $0.6.

The gold foil version of this card will be automatically leveled to 2 and costs $0.180 per bcx, and when upgraded to level 5, it will require 5 BCX that would cost $0.9.

You don't need to own this card if you want to use it, you can rent this card and currently, you can rent the regular 1 bcx version at 0.1 DEC/Day, and the gold foil costs 0.250 DEC/Day. The regular foil level 5 costs 0.384 DEC/Day and the gold foil version 1.366 DEC/Day.

WEAKNESS AND STRENGTHS

STRENGTHS, GARGOYA LION is affordable to buy and rent and he will be an amazing tank for both physical and magic damage because of his FLYING and VOID abilities.

WEAKNESS, GARGOYA LION speed and damage at level 1 are underwhelming. You need to have him at level 5 and unlock the VOID ability and get his stats upgraded to be decent enough to use.

RULESET

The game has 22 MANA CAP and two rulesets which are EARTHQUAKE and MELEE MAYHEM which makes this game a GARGOYA LION game, his FLYING ability will nullify the EARTHQUAKE damage and the MELEE MAYHEM will make GARGOYA LION versatile that you will be able to put him in any position and he will be able to deal damage.
My main strategy is to maximize my GARGOYA LION and placing him in a safer position while letting the enemy take the EARTHQUAKE damage per round.

SUMMONER

KELYA FRENDUL is the best summoner that will fit GARGOYA LION with his +1 SPEED and +1 ARMOR will make him much faster and harder to kill.

TANKS

TORRENT FIEND is the sacrificial tank, he is a disposable monster that will tank the damage of the enemy monsters buying more time for my GARGOYA LION to live longer.

CRUEL SETHROPOD is my main tank, with his high armor, he will be able to tank the EARTHQUAKE damage along with the enemy's physical damage and can also deal damage at the same time.

TIDE BITER similar with CRUEL SETHROPOD he will be a great tank and damage dealer at the same that will ensure the safety of my GARGOYA LION

SECRET WEAPON

GARGOYA LION is the main character in this game because I own a level 5 of this card, this monster has no weakness he will be able to tank both physical and magical damage while dealing damage at the safest position.

SNEAK COMBO

PELACOR BANDIT, I want to surprise the enemy by picking a DUAL SNEAK combo that will finish off the backline of the enemy monsters, and with this monster FLYING ability, like GARGOYA LION he will nullify the EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE.

URAEUS is my secondary SNEAK monster combo, he will be the one finishing off the enemy while my PELACOR BANDIT softens the enemy monsters.

Speed vs Power? Who will win? I went for full melee lineup while the enemy countered it by going with a monster that has SHIELD and DEMORALIZED abilities.

ROUND 1

I was clearly at a disadvantage in the starting round because almost all of my monsters have 0 damage against his LIVING LAVA, but luckily his LIVING LAVA missed his basic damage, and the EARTHQUAKE ruleset also helped me damage most of his monsters.

ROUND 2

The EARTHQUAKE killed both of his 0 mana cost monsters that made my SNEAK monster chip off the 1 health of his MOLTEN OGRE but the rest still have 0 damage against his main tank.

ROUND 3

In the third round, the EARTHQUAKE ruleset was slowly finishing off the enemy monsters but he was able to finish off my CRUEL SETHROPOD.

ROUND 4 - 6

Finally in the fourth round with the combination of my SNEAK monster and EARTHQUAKE ruleset, I was able to finish off his MOLTEN OGRE and that made me able to damage his LIVING LAVA by 1, and slowly won the game without losing anymore monster.

AFTERTHOUGHTS

GARGOYA LION is a rarely used monster because he is a situational monster and he shines at level 5 one he unlocks the VOID ability. I love using this monster because he will be able to tank both magical and physical damage, and this monster is my first choice in every EARTHQUAKE ruleset.
I would not change anything in my lineup because I think this is the best lineup with this ruleset and it was proven because I won the game even though the enemy countered my lineup.
