Before explaining how to play Splinterlands, it's a good idea to know what Splinterlands is. Splinterlands is a game with a card game genre, and Splinterlands is a game called Play to earn that operates on the Hive Blockchain Ecosystem.

In Splinterlands, the players don't just play and collect with the cards they have. Still, by fighting with other players, they will get prizes in the form of crypto tokens that they can sell on the free market, and not only crypto tokens that can generate money but the NFT cards they collect can also be traded with other players.

What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a Collectible Card Game that collects cards that can be used in one-on-one battles with other players. Previously, this game was known as Steem Monsters when it was still under the Steem Blockchain ecosystem, later moved to the Hive Blockchain ecosystem and then changed its name to Splinterlands.

Splinterlands is a Card Battle game, and it has more than 470 Cards for you to collect; which small amount of them are Summoners, and the rest are monsters, and each battle with other players, you must build a lineup in combination with 1 Summoner and Monsters (up to 6 Monster) based on mana Caps and mana allocation within 3 minutes or 180 seconds.

Before we play this game, you must know some basic things so your gaming experience will be much more fun: Attributes, Ability, Splinters (Factions), Ruleset, and Rarity.

1. Attributes

Each Monster will have attributes; you can build a lineup after understanding how each attribute works, and as for the Advanced (Experienced) Players, they will easily predict the enemy's lineup and counter it.

The most common attributes you will encounter in your daily battle are Magic-type Attacks, Ranged-type Attacks, Melee-type Attacks (Red), Speed (Blue), Health/Hit points/HP (Silver), Armor (Yellow), Ability(s) (White), and Mana (Black).

2. Ability(s)

Monsters and Summoners usually will have the ability. Some monsters or Summoners have more than one ability, so If you want to play this Splinterlands comfortably, you must know how the ability works, or your game live will be a disaster. To make it easier, Use this Splintercards Ability enciclopedia.

3. Splinters (Factions)

To make this simple, Splinterlands is about Faction Wars. Splinterlands have 7 factions or are called Splinters: Fire (Red), Water (Blue), Earth (Green), Life (White), Death (Purple), Dragon (Yellow), and Neutral (Silver). Each Summoner for the respective Splinter will be only able to use Monsters from the respective Splinter or Neutral only, except Dragon and Neutral Summoner.

Example: Water Summoner can only summon Monsters from Water or Neutral Splinters while Dragon or Neutral Summoner can summon Monsters from Dragon, specific Splinters (Be it Water, Fire, or else choose 1), and Neutral Splinters

4. Rulesets

To make each battle unique and fun, the Splinterlands put Ruleset or none for each battle; with this, Players will create a unique lineup t adapt and follow up the rulesets and turn it in their favor and win the battle. Here for Ruleset Detail.

5. Rarity

Each monster and summoners have its rarity. Each rarity has its supply compared to Common and Legendary; Common Monsters have more supply than the Legendary ones, which means Legendary has more value than Common, which makes them more valuable and worth collecting. There is 4 kind of rarity: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary.

These are basic things you should know within Splinterlands Card Game. I will come back again with another tutorial and stories around Splinterlands.
