SplinterGlossary: Card Types

The main way to categorize cards in Splinterlands is by their type:

The gameplay of Splinterlands forces someone to have at least one summoner and one or more monsters from the same splinter as the summoner or a neutral card (if the ruleset allows them) to be able to submit a team. Dragon summoners are the exception, because they allow the selection of any monsters, both from the dragon splinter and from other splinters.

To improve one's chances of victory in battle, one needs to have multiple options of summoners and monsters, and they need to be upgraded the higher one moves in the leagues.

As a rule, one should not level up monsters past the level cap permitted by the summoner or the caps of the maximum league they can reach. Level up summoners first, and follow closely with the monsters next.
