Hi @felipejoys
I think this post is a reaction to the change made by Splinterlands but to say that people who start playing Splinterlands now without bots are stupid is not something I share.
I tried to play as a new player and made an experiment that I invite you to read, in 42 days I recovered the initial investment (profit +7.5 $) only thanks to the game rewards and without without quest potions:
https://peakd.com/hive-146620/@libertycrypto27/my-splinterlands-experiment-from-usd10

But Splintelands offers much more than that:
Weekly contests
Giveaway
Trivia Challenge
Airdrop SPS token
Card Rental
Trading (Cards, DEC tokens and SPS tokens)
SPT tokens (obtainable by publishing posts with spt and/or splinterlands tags on the Hive blockchain)

A player who registers now and in addition to playing regularly participates in Splinterlands contests and giveaways organized by Splinterlands and other players can recover the cost of registration in no time.

I gave some advice to new players at the end of this post of mine: https://peakd.com/hive-146620/@libertycrypto27/is-splinterlands-a-good-investment-21-months-later--advices-for-new-players-splinterlands-e-un-buon-investimento-21-mesi-dopo

Obviously it's just my opinion and I respect yours even if I don't share it.
Have a nice day

Calling them stupid was clickbait. I think splinterlands is worthwhile in general, but it's in the worst state for a new player that it has been in the past year or longer. It should go back on track with Chaos Legion, but that's far away.

Also you may link me whatever post you want, but in practice, I hear people saying they're giving up climbing ranked and whatnot left and right. I am not negatively affected, but everyone in a few discords who are just getting started are generally giving up for now.

Low player retention and fear of DEC crashing down is creating a very hostile environment for new players. Who wants to invest in a market that's about to crash as soon as Chaos Legion comes out? I sold my cards and I have no regrets. I want to buy back in with Chaos Legion.

Holders are happy with these players renting stuff, so ofc they're going to be salty about my post, but it doesn't change that the current scenario is subpar comparing to what splinterlands has been in the past.

I repeat: I am not negatively affected. I care about the game itself. Imo, the situation right now is awful to very new players, and that negatively affects the game. It's no wonder there was a whole "new player experience" project from the dev team, it's super important. But well, it's terrible right now.
