Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

Iziar is another unit brought to life by the Outsider ruleset. She was once one of my favorite units in the Light splinter. I used to combo her with Triage healers as she drew attacks away from my main damage dealers. In today's post, we'll look into her lore, stats and abilities and also show a sample battle.

Lore

Iziar is the last surviving member of the Blesog, an ancient race of storm giants who live high in the Agniavas mountains. After losing her beloved a decade ago, she carries on his legacy by nurturing the unborn children he left behind. She is preparing them for the future while living in solitude among the peaks. Isolated from the world, Iziar spends her days mastering the destructive forces of nature. She wields lightning and storms with terrifying power. According to Blesog prophecy, the storm giants will descend from the mountains whenever the land faces grave danger, unleashing the fury of on anyone who threatens Praetoria.

Stats and Abilities

At maxed levels, Iziar deals decent magic damage of three and speed of three. She has very high health pool of fourteen making her a great Taunt unit and can also play tank in certain situations like Wands Out ruleset. Her abilities compliment each other. First, she has Taunt that draws attacks. She also has Void that decreases magic attack received. Finally, she has Martyr that empowers adjacent allied units when she gets defeated. I usually combo her with unit that has Triage ability to sustain her as she receives attack. She is especially effective against magic units and a key card in Wands Out ruleset owing to her Taunt and Void abilities.

Featured Battle

In this battle, player Banjocroswell had Iziar in his team. It's a high mana battle so there are no restrictions in terms of mana and Banjo brought all his big guns in this battle. He had two tank combo of Der Gottem Gearnut and Leolin Sifu. One is a beefy tank and the other is a damage dealer. In third position is his taunt unit, Iziar. In fourth is the legendary Gramel the Hunger who has triple attack. In fifth is Forlorn Geomant who boasts of five magic damage and in last position is Calabash Sage, a unit that deals four range damage and has Tank Heal ability to sustain the team's tank.

His opponent used the Death splinter and fielded an all magic team. While his team was strong, it was countered by Banjo's Iziar who has the Taunt and Void abilities. This gave time to his other units to deal damage while the enemy was busy trying to defeat Iziar.

Final Thoughts

Iziar shines as one of the most defensive units in Splinterlands. Her greatest strength is Taunt, forcing enemy attacks toward her and protecting fragile backline allies from Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity attackers. Her high health pool, combined with Void allows her to absorb magic damage far better than most tanks, especially in rulesets where magic teams dominate. When paired with Triage healers Iziar becomes difficult to kill, buying enough time for the rest of the team to defeat the opponent.
