FLYING SQUID'S TENTACLES IN TANTRUM (Weekly Battle Challenge)

avatar

Waters of Splinterlands might look calm, but the dangerous creatures beneath lurk waiting to victimize any unwary living being that crosses their way.

Many sailors lost their lives and got injured when they ventured through the foul sea of Praetoria. It is unwise to leave the land without proper preparation and guards. If someone is caught by a Flying Squid, protect your eyes and just slice his tentacles, the quicker you cut off his tentacles, the higher chances that he would live.

Flying Squid card will be used in this weekly battle challenge, and I'll show you how powerful it can be.

LORE

Although a Flying Squid does not have any real wings to take flight, his unmatchable agility gives him the ability to leap from the water with a thrust and pounce in the air for an attack. They are so intelligent when it comes to fighting, that they blind their prey by spraying smelly ink into their eyes. Their tentacles are very powerful and can crush the bones of their opponents with a little squeeze.

FLYING SQUID CARD SKILLS AND ABILITIES

LEVEL 1 LEVEL 10

CARD LEVEL SHEET

A level 1 Flying Squid card provides 2 Attack, 3 Speed, and 8 Health, but as the card level increases, it enhances its Health, Attack, and Speed. Its max level is 10 and provides 5 Speed, 3 Attack, ad 10 Health.

Special Abilities
Flying Squid card is equipped with "Reach" ability, with that ability, it can attack from 2nd position in the battle lineup.

Since he is a squid, he receives "Blind" ability at level 6, which helps him evade ranged and melee attacks more effectively.

Once the card reaches level 10, it gets "Backfire" ability, which gives him the power to retaliate if an enemy misses his attack.

BATTLE LINEUP

LORDSHAH'S CARDS OPPONENT'S CARDS
Kelya Frendul (Summoner) Thadius Brood (Summoner)
Hardy Stonefish Carrion Shade
Flying Squid Cursed Windeku
Deeplurker Riftwing
Igor Darkspear Silent Sha-Vi

STRATEGY
I use Kelya Frendul to boost +1 Armor and +1 Speed of the cards used in the battle, which gives an advantage to my units to attack first in the battle. Stonefish is placed in 1st position to consume the opponent's initial attacks while Deeplurker can take someone with the lowest health.

Flying Squid is placed in 2nd position in the line to use his "Reach" ability effectively and help destroy the enemy's tank unit.

Igor is a low mana card and has 4 Health, he will attack from a distance to slowly lower the tank's health, and to take sneak attack damage as long as he survives.

Battle Video
Now, we'll watch the battle video and see this cool strategy in action. The death units are quite powerful as you can see Windeku has "Thorns" that are very bad for the melee attackers.

BATTLE COMMENTARY

As you see in the battle video that Thaddius Brood's magic weakens my team's health, but Kelya Frendul not only boosts armor but also increases his allies' speed.

Round 1
As Igor Darkspear receives a Speed buff, he quickly attacks Carrion Shade making him weak and helpless, Carrion Shade receives a tentacle slap from Flying Squid, which flattens him leaving him lifeless.

Unfortunately, Igor and Stonefish lose their armor, they are now vulnerable to the enemy's attacks.

Round 2
Igor throws a spear at Windeku, which bruises him a little. Sneaky Bastard Silent Sha-Vi ends Igor's life by attacking him from behind.

Windeku spreads his horns and impales Stonefish, then chews it whole with a grin on his face "Tough but juicy and delicious meal."

Deeplurker seizes the opportunity to end Silent Sha-vi's life, with a big pounce on his prey, he grabs his neck in the jaws and gulps the snake as a whole, "An eye for an eye, Windeku, you are the next.", Deeplurker fiercely shouts looking into Windeku's eyes.

Round 3
Flying Squid and Deeplurker are facing each other, blood is gushing out of Windeku's lacerations, while Squid loses some of his tentacles captured in the horns of Windeku, and Deeplurker also loses his armor but is determined to win the battle.

Round 4
Flying Squid wraps his remaining tentacles around Windeku in a tantrum, bearhugs him, and uses his full force to squeeze Windeku's ribcage and his bones come out of his rotting flesh broken and cracked.

Round 5 to 8
Riftwing is now flying in front of Squid, he can only do flying and there is no corpse left on the battlefield he can sap any more health from.

As Riftwing dodges a few of their attacks, Squid spews a black and think liquid into his eyes lowering him to the ground.

After a few bites and squashing Riftwing lay on the battlefield lifeless.

SPLINTERLANDS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Tell us about your lineup.

In the 'Strategy' section above, I have covered my battle lineup and its effectiveness in the battle. But, my focus was to protect Flying Squid and Deeplurker to maximize their attack efficiency.

Explain why you put each card in that position and why they are a good fit with FLYING SQUID.

Hardy Stonefish on the first position held few attacks and helped Squid to attack from 2nd position. Deeplurker on 3rd position removed Sha-vi from the backline, which turned the tide of the battle. Igor took 2 attacks from Sha-vi and also injured Carrion and Windeku, this tactic helped me to protect Deeplurker until the end.

Did your strategy work?

It worked for sure, although I lost 2 units, they were supposed to die as expected.

What will you try differently next time?

I don't think any better lineup than I put here in this battle. If I get some more low mana cards like Igor, I'll try them out to explore a new strategy.

Do you like FLYING SQUID? Why or why not?

Not much as it requires 7 Mana to place his, but his attack and "Reach" ability look a nice combo to attack from 2nd position and can be very good in higher Mana battle.
