PORTAL SPINNER THE RIFT LAUCHER - (Weekly Battle Challenge)

When we talk about Life Units in Splinterlands game, there are so many versatile characters to select for battles according to the strategy. Most of the Life units are humanoids and animals, but some other brave races proved to be valuable allies in the battles.

Portal Spinner is one of the Life unit lesser known cards which is selected for the weekly battle challenge.

LORE

Portal Spinners are sorcerers, who use to open portals to another side of the world known as mini-rifts. Rumors imply that these portals were used to travel between different realms, those who successfully went through and came back were known to have some mental issues for their entire life.

They have now stopped using portals to travel to other realms, but they learn to use the portals to throw nets on their flying foes to make them fall to the ground. They can also hit random targets in the battles helping their allies to eradicate backline units.

PORTAL SPINNER CARD SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Portal Spinner is a rare life unit card with its ranged attack offensive, its best position is to keep it in the backline.

Portal Spinner card can be upgraded up to level 8, it gains Snare ability from level 5 onwards.

Portal Spinner card becomes powerful as it is combined with the same cards according to their BCX requirements per level. It reaches 4 Ranged Attack, 5 Health, 2 Armor, and 3 Speed at max level 8.

Special Abilities
Scattershot ability allows Portal Spinner to attack any random target in each turn.

When Portal Spinner uses Snare ability from level 5 onward, it traps the flying target in a net to fall on the ground.

STRATEGY
First I looked into the opponent's previous battles, he was using Fire units frequently. Fire units contain lots of stealth cards, so I used Shieldbearer to redirect enemy attacks to him for the safety of the backline.

General Sloan added +1 to ranged attacks cards, Shieldbearer was placed in the first position as a tank warrior. Portal Spinner took 2nd position to send random ranged attacks to the opponent's lineup.

Venari Crytalsmith, on 3rd position, provided healing to Shieldbearer, as he as took every hit from the enemy lineup.

It was a very tough fight between Fire and Life units, but Shieldbearer stood firm and made this battle a great victory. Watch this battle video to enjoy the fight between two impressive adversaries.

BATTLE COMMENTARY

General Sloan boosts his ranged allies with a +1 ranged attack making their weapons deal more damage, while Tarsa sharpens her allies' blades and gives them additional +1 health to rip their enemy apart.

Round 1
Fire Elemental blasts Shieldbearer, the shrapnel from the blast also tears Portal Spinner's armor. Shieldbearer taunts Serpentine Spy "haha! face your doom snaky crap, you can't go behind me.", and he loses his armor completely.

Portal Spinner opens her portal and drops a heavy blade on the Serpentine
Spy sending him to the realm of Eternity forever.

Round 2
Another blast shakes both Shieldbearer and Portal Spinner as they are fighting without their armor.

Living Lava is severely injured as all three Life units swear to eliminate him first.

Round 3
Fire Elemental throws another shrapnel bomb, which almost makes Portal Spinner lifeless. Shieldbearer sends a war cry to his allies, which brings high morale to them.

Venari Crystalsmith heals some of the Shieldbearer's wounds, while Portal Spinner launches a rift and drops tons of ice spikes on Living Lava, he is flattened to the ground and as the ice cools him down his molten lava turns into a rocky structure.

Round 4
Fire Elemental is helpless without her allies, Shieldbearer strangles him without any hesitation.

Venari Crystalsmith heals Shieldbearer and then shoots crystal shards at her, she draws out some fumes and turns to ashes within a few moments.

SPLINTERLANDS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Tell us about your lineup.

As described in the strategy section, the battle lineup contains 3 Life unit cards (Shieldbearer, Portal Spinner, and Venari Crystalsmith) having General Sloan as their Summoner.

Explain why you put each card in that position and why they are a good fit with PORTAL SUMMONER.

My strategy was to maximize the use of "Taunt" ability, Shieldbearer would face all the attacks, while Portal Spinner randomly hit any enemy unit from 2nd position, and Venari Crystalsmith would keep healing Shieldbear and attacking enemies at the same time.

Did your strategy work?

It worked quite nicely, and all my units remained alive till the last.

What will you try differently next time?

It depends on the mana allocated for a battle, because this card requires 5 mana, I might not use it, but in 30+ mana battles, I would use extra armor buffs. But, overall this is not a good card for battles.

Do you like PORTAL SPINNER? Why or why not?

No! it is the worst card designed by developers, it cost me a league just to win 1 battle with this useless card. Portal Spinner is very costly in terms of mana, and an unpopular card that has no better use case other than a waste of mana and loss of the battle. With 5 mana I could have adjusted 3 more cards in its place.
