Where living beings dominate in Splinterlands, a dark side emerges from the abyss of undead hordes. Maybe the next graveyard is full of these rotting, fleshless, and gruesome monsters. Soul Strangler is an undead who lives a high life, but his hunger for the blood never ends. This weekly battle challenge brings this undead to fill the chaos among living splinters.

LORE

Baron Kutziq Neculai was the caring governor of Darkholde, an ancient city located within the Blackworth mountain range. The people of the city might not know about him, but he knows everything about them, their culture, traditions, history, behaviors, and most importantly the flavors of the blood.

He was a gentleman in his court, but a vampire in disguise who only killed when he needed to. He hunted in the night using his mesmerizing skills and consumed blood and soul out of the body making it a husk-filled effigy.
This is how Baron Nekulai got his name Soul Strangler.

SOUL STRANGLER CARD SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Soul Strangler is an undead unit of the Death Splinter faction. This card is a "Rare" monster in the Chaos Legion series.

This card can be upgraded up to 8 levels and only has one ability at the 8th level to poison the attacked opponent.

CARD LEVEL SHEET

Soul Strangler has a ranged attack and cannot be used at 1st position unless otherwise allowed by the ruleset. The card costs 3 mana in a battle, but his ranged attack and low mana requirement make him a very demanding card.

When the card is maxed to level 8, it becomes very powerful with 4 Ranged Attack, 4 Health, and 3 Speed, and also receives the "Poison" ability.

Special Abilities
Poison ability triggers when an opponent is hit by the ranged attack by Soul Stranger, it slashes 2 health per turn.

STRATEGY
Basically, it is an experimental battle with Daria Dragonscale, I wanted to boost Death units with an additional +1 Attack.

I used Windeku to attack at the first position and the attacker would also receive +2 Thorn damage from Windeku. Next in the backline was placed Baron Soul Strangler, his 2 Ranged Attack would help to destroy armor and further support Windeku to defeat Pelacor.

Silent Sha-vi was in 3rd position with an advantage of attacking his opponent first with 4 Speed and an additional +1 attack, he could easily clean the backline support units within 2 rounds.

I placed Gold foil Carrion Shade as bait for stealth attackers and to save Silent Sha-vi in the first round of battle.

+1 Attack buff from Daria is the basic factor that worked well in this strategy to win the battle.

BATTLE COMMENTARY

Both Daria and Obsidian are known for their famous attack boosting skills, the difference is that Daria enhances the melee attack of his allies, while Obsidian does for the magic attack.

Round 1
Speed matters here, Obsidian team has a relatively lower speed, therefore without any delay Silent Sha-vi jumps towards Khmer Princess and wraps around her neck, the tight grip and a bite full of venom dispatched the beautiful princess to the eternal world.

Soul Strangler tries to control the mind of Pelacor Mercenary, but he feels the uneasiness in his mind and flies away from his range. Goblin Psychic damages Cursed Windeku and also heals Mercenary.

Round 2
Silent Sha-vi is already ready to end Goblin Psychic once and for all. He gazes at Psychic and spits a venomous fluid into his eyes blinding him, he lunges and bites on his magic-imbued hands, and after a few splatters and splashes on the ground Goblin Psychic turns lifeless.

Pelacor Mercenary is helpless and badly wounded, Windeku rips his skin making him even weaker to use his wings.

Soul Strangler connects with his mind and slowly consumes his soul, as he starts to beg for mercy.

Round 3
As Silvent Sha-vi attacks Pelacor Mercenary, he somehow manages to dodge, but then Windeku thrusts him with his thorny horns to the ground and violently shakes his body, with nothing left of him but blood and flesh.

SPLINTERLANDS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Tell us about your lineup.

It was a 4-unit team based on Death units with a Dragon summoner, details are provided in the Battle Lineup section.

Explain why you put each card in that position and why they are a good fit with SOUL STRANGLER.

As I said that it was an experimental battle, I tried a Dragon Summoner to boost the melee attack of death units and used them against Earth units well.

Windeku's 3 Melee Attack and Thorns deal 5 damage, while Soul Strangler helps him with 2 Ranged Attack from behind. Sha-vi takes backline support with 3 Melee Attack and becomes a one-hit-wonder. Carrion is used to luring stealth attackers.

Did your strategy work?

Yes, the strategy made me very happy and I now think of using it in many other battles.

What will you try differently next time?

I'll add a Neutral card such as Spirit Hoarder to heal the backline in case of stealth attacks.

Do you like SOUL STRANGLER? Why or why not?

It is a nice low mana card and placing it in low mana battles is quite easy. It supports 1st position cards to defeat a tank in many battles.
