###### Welcome to Splinter-Chat with LordTimoty! This is a post about one of my favourite subjects; Splinterlands! I hope you'll get comfy, and take a few minutes with me as we head into this week's battle challenge: playing with the Wood Nymph!

So let's get underway by having a closer look:

Lore

A peculiar new bud appeared at the tips of the highest branches of the Elder Tree. The animals living in the tree watched as the strange buds grew, and in a matter of days, burst open. From each bud zoomed forth a tiny sprite. These Wood Nymphs quickly scattered around Anumün in a frenzy of mischief.

Ruleset and Strategy

The ruleset for this battle limited my mana to 17, and only even cards (2/4/6 etc). This looked like a good setup for Wood Nymph to enter. I decided to use the summoner Obsidian because this would give my magic creatures +1 Magic Attack.
To reach my mana count, I had Obsidian (4) Venari Knifer (6) Wood Nymph (4) and Khmer Queen (2). This let me hit 16 mana, which would be the maximum allowable in this ruleset. Both my Khmer Queen and Wood Nymph, through Obsidian would now have 2 magic attack. In a low mana battle, I had planned that they would help to quickly knock over my opponents tank. This strategy would be supported by having Venari Knifer out front, that he would do +2 Damage, and his thorns would hurt my opponents tank. The theory would then be, that my Wood Nymph would heal my Venari Knifer, and then we would churn through my opponents team for an outstanding victory! My biggest reservation going into this battle was the supersneak ability, so for this reason I put the Khmer Queen on the rear, to allow my Wood Nymph to be able to get her healing off at least once.

The result:

In the end, I was well and truly destroyed by my opponent.
• His Unicorn Mustang used the ruleset to attack first, knocking out my Khmer Queen.
• His Goblin Thief followed up, by knocking out my Wood Nymph.
• My Venari Knifer was able to take down his Goblin Summoner, but his Summoner, Mylor Crowling enabled thorns, which meant I ended up knocking my own health off with each attack.
Here's a look at the battle, you can see the total wipe out for yourself:

My Wood Nymph Battle

My takeaway:

I usually would use the Goblin Psychic in my battles. I don't own the Wood Nymph and I don't think I will keep my rental of the card past my 24 hour hire period. The reason is, the Goblin has higher health and higher attack. I don't think I will be swapping him out of my line-up any time soon. If I was going to keep the Wood Nymph in my team, I would need to pair her with Mycella who offers +2 Armour. This would make Wood Nymph less spongey, and by giving her longevity in the battle, I feel she might be able to make more of a difference.
Until next time, good luck rangling the rankings, battling the brawls and curating content.
