THE BATTLE

THE BATTLE Play out automatically, you can choose to fast-forward the game x1, x2, x3, or you can skip to end to game result

THE RULES

Battlefield

In Splinterlands, to be successful in battle you have to understand the terrain. The battlefield consists of two rows and six positions. The strength of your forces depends on how you can utilize these positions and anticipate your opponent.
  • Front Row - AKA position 1. Ranged attacks do not work in this position.
  • Back Row - Melee attack monsters cannot attack from the back row unless otherwise specified by a ruleset or ability.

Preparation

What to know..
  • Filling Vacancies When a monster dies, the monsters behind it all move up one position to fill in the vacant spot. Think carefully about how your monsters will be positioned if one dies. There can be no holes in formation.

  • Adjacency
Certain abilities affect adjacent positions, so what does it mean to be adjacent? Notice positions 1, 2, and 3. Position 2 is adjacent to both positions 1 and 3. Position 1 is only adjacent to position 2. Likewise, position 6 is only adjacent to position 5. Think of the formation in terms of a line and not a grid.

COMBAT

Time for you to choose a summoner and practice some battles. The battleground is split in half, with your team on one side and the enemy on the other. At the halfway point, the front-row Monsters from each team face off against each other. The Monsters with the highest Speed will take their turns first.

If two monsters' speeds are equal, then attack type is used to break the tie: first magic, then ranged, and finally melee. If the attack types are the same, then a random order is chosen.

Participating in several fights, you will become more familiar with what combinations of Monsters work well for different types of battles and in what positions they are most effective.
