Scavo "Mana Efficient" Firebolt - Share your Battle Weekly Challenge

avatar

Yeah, yeah, strong monsters are fun and all. But you know what's even better? MANA EFFICIENCY! That's the good stuff!

This post is an entry to the SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge - SCAVO FIREBOLT!

SCAVO FIREBOLT

LORE

Living within the Realm of Silence, the mole-like race of Scavo were affected by the toxic gas from the Mountain of Ash. They became highly intelligent and worked diligently to protect their home from the blight.
Scavo Firebolts were particularly changed by their proximity to the magma, developing the ability to summon and launch bolts of fire from their palms. They defend their home by launching these fire bolts from great distances.
Approaching enemies don't even realize the danger until fire begins to rain from above. Those that are incapacitated are especially vulnerable...

CARD DETAILS (Level 1)
Mana Cost: 4
Splinter: FIRE
Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: RARE
Stats: 2 Ranged Attack, 4 Health, 2 Speed

Ability (at Level 6): Knock Out (Does double damage when attacking an enemy that is stunned.)

The Match

Link to the Match

Scavo Firebolt is a card that usually end up flying under the radar: this Monster doesn't have high, flashy stats... the poor boy doesn't even have any ability until Level 6!

Nonetheless, he's a very effective card in terms of Mana Cost: costing only 4 Mana to play, he has 4 Health (allowing him to withstand a reasonably high amount of damage and stay alive), 2 Ranged Attack, and 2 Speed.

This makes him ideal to be played on Low Mana Matches: as you'll be restrained by the Mana Limit, the raw power becomes less important and the Mana Efficiency becomes more relevant. And the Scavo Firebolt has an ideal balance between low Mana Cost, high firepower with 2 Ranged Damage, and reasonable Health to tank damage.

image.png

Nonetheless, I see one problem with this Monster: the most popular Fire Splinter Summoner is currently Tarsa, which gives +1 Melee Damage. As you can see, the ability of the Summoner doesn't help the Firebolt, as he's a Ranged Monster. This means that, at least on the lower leagues, the player that uses Scavo Firebol will have to give up the Melee buff from Tarsa.

image.png

In the other hand, the most powerful (but extremely expensive!) Fire Splinter Summoner is Yodin Zaku, and he's literally a godsend do this card: A) increasing the Ranged Damage from 2 to 3; B) buffing the Health from 4 to 5; C) giving the Blast ability to the Monster.

Yodin Zaku literally transforms average-guy Scavo Firebolt into a hell of a machinegun with lasers and blasters.

Unfortunately, I don't own a Yodin Zaku, so let's go back to the real world! 😂

scavo_firebolt_png.png

Let's analyze my team!

  • My Summoner is Tarsa. As I said before, she's the most popular Summoner on the Fire Splinter, and is way stronger than the other free option, Pyre, in 99% of the matches. In an ideal, pro gamer scenario, I would be using Yodin Zaku. Nonetheless, Tarsa still gives +1 Health to all my Monsters, and is able to buff two of my Monsters that have Melee attacks.

  • The frontline tank is the Living Lava. He's the classic Fire tank with 2 Armor, 6 Health and the Shield ability. As you can see, my enemy didn't played any Magic Monster; thus, the Living Lava was able to halve all the incoming damage, allowing him to stay alive much longer.

  • My 2nd Monster is the Furious Chicken. This card is a staple on Low Mana Matches due the cost of 0 Mana. I usually play this Monster as my 2nd card simply because it can absorb some damage and protect (just a bit!) the rest of the team.

  • My 3rd Monster is the Serpentine Spy. I already wrote about him in the past, and I'll say it again: together with the +1 Attack from Tarsa, the Serpentine Spy becomes a beast with 3 Attack, 3 Speed, and the allmighty Opportunity ability. In this match, he was literally able to kill a Monster every and each round.

  • My 4th Monster is the Fire Elemental. She's also one of my favourites of the Fire Splinter due the incredibly high Speed (4), and the Blast ability, allowing her to deal 3 damage per round (2 on the enemy tank, 1 on his 2nd Monster).

  • My 5th and last Monster is the Scavo Firebolt. My strategy, in this match, was to deal as much damage on the enemy tank as possible, in order to kill him fast and dismantle the opponent's strategy. Together, the Scavo Firebolt, the Fire Elemental and the Living Lava was able to deal 8 total damage per round, killing the enemy tank (Cursed Windeku) in just over one single round.

Good News, Everyone! The battle was a Success!

The match was a landslide!

I had a bit of luck on this match, in the sense that my enemy just played Melee Monsters and, thus, wasn't able to kill my Living Lava due his Shield ability. While I had an easy time killing his own tank despite the Thorns ability, as I had 2 Ranged Monsters attacking him, and Thorns just activate with Melee.

Nonetheless, my opponent was able to end up killing both my Ranged Monsters, including the Scavo Firebolt, as he had 2 Monsters with Sneak.

But, during the tame that he he took to kill just 2 of my Monsters, I was able to rolfstomp his whole team, bringing home one more victory!
