What's up Splinterland Players!!

I hope you all are happy and enjoying Splinterlands!

This is your splinter fellow warrior mango-juice with another Splinterlands social challenge post!!

Battles of Splinterlands has been always about outthinking your opponent and surpass his power with brute n brain. Depending on the ruleset and mana limit, you have to make a better line up that must beat down the opponent. You must need the strongest monsters of the battlefield to make a worthy deck that creates fear among other players.

If you have thoughts like this in your head, you probably have asked yourself why there are some 2 mana powerless summoners are there. I mean okay, it can be used in the silenced summoners ruleset matches where summoners lose their buffs/debuffs but it's only about 1 mana more cost to use a normal one for that. Isn't it better to focus on those big summoners like that mimosa, Zaku and others?

Today, when I started thinking for a topic for today's social challenge, these2 mana summoners crossed my mind. I don't see them much these days while playing ranked matches. Its fact that they are already out of print and can be only acquired from the market or off-market p2p dealings.

Long ago, I wished to have those but they were as usual pricy. I was only able to snatch a level 5 XanderFoxwood (Earth summoner) in my collection.

Why 2 mana summoners are important?

  • Firstly, mana count! Especially in low mana matches, it's very hard to choose your favourite monsters because of the mana limit. So getting 1 more mana may give you the freedom to choose flesh Golem over Stone Golem or the Cocatrice instead of that ooze/brownie.
  • Secondly, they are a perfect fit for Silenced summoners matches. After the beta edition, we haven't seen any 2 mana monsters in untamed version. So that makes them more important to have. Recently, the KRETCH TALLEVOR, the reward Dragon summoner has been released which does not possess any buffs/debuffs but sadly, it costs 3 mana, not 2.
  • Lastly, In bronze tournaments, the max level of monsters that can be used in battles are (common = level 3, rare = level 2, epic = level 2 and legendary = level 1). I am not sure if it still works nowadays, but when playing bronze level tournaments, if you use any epic summoners, you can use level 3 rare monsters in the matches whereas if you use the normal summoners, you can only use level 2 rare monsters.

Well, just all of that came into my mind when I questioned myself why they are important. Did I miss any points? If yes then please tell me below in the comments!

Moving on, today we will focus on my favourite 2 mana summoner, Xander Foxwood! Let's see what the Book of Splinterloe has to teel about her!

One spring day in Anumün, a tiny (but egotistical) Pixie named Xander Foxwood buzzed into Summoner’s Green during one of the Magi’s summoner classes. He insisted that in spite of his size and lack of experience, he could summon circles around anyone in the group. A few practice battles proved Xander correct, and now he is one of the leading summoners of Anumün.

Current Market Status

Right now there is a max Xander available at the market and low price and listed at 38.98$ (68,796.329 DEC) which is 0.85$ per BCX. The one BCX cards are available from 1.10$ (1,949.497 DEC) and increasing.

I already have a level 5 (23 BCX) Xander in my collection which I bought long ago from the market. But today I will use the red dog account which holds a max Xander so it will be fun!

Ruleset Of Battle

image.png

image.png

  • Mana count This match holds a medium 36 mana cap!

  • Summoners This battle supports Fire, Earth, Life, Death and Dragon summoners.

  • Ruleset So, It was a single ruleset as below...
    • Unprotected (Monster will lose their armours and no buff will give armour).

It's a medium mana match this time and I am thinking to go for the Earth summoner Xander deck with a group of high mana monsters. I could have easily used Lynna or Prince but I decided to save mana and to spend them on high monsters.

For the ruleset, as no armours will be used in the battle, I chose to pot out Spirit of the Forest and went with Kron. Now let's jump into the fight!

Line-Up

HYDRA

I chose HYDRA in the first place because of its multiple abilities, especially healing and Thrones. I have a level 4 and it has 4 melee attack, 4 speed and 10 health. It carries 4 abilities at level 4. They are Healing, Thrones, Retaliate and Trample.

PRISMATIC ENERGY

I chose PRISMATIC ENERGY in the second place because of its Void and magic Reflect ability with high tank health. I have a level 8 and it has 3 magic attack, 5 speed and 11 health. It carries 2 abilities with itself. They are Void and Magic Reflect.

WOOD NYMPH

I chose WOOD NYMPH in the third-place mainly because of its healing ability. I have a level 10 and it has 2 magic attack, 4 speed and 4 health. It carries 2 abilities with itself. They are Tank Heal and Strengthen.

GOBLIN SORCERER

I chose GOBLIN SORCERER in the fourth place mainly because of its sneak ability. I have a level 10 and it has 3 magic attack, 5 speed and 3 health. It carries the sneak ability with itself.

SWAMP THING

I chose SWAMP THING in the fifth-place mainly because of its Slow and weaken ability at low mana price. I have a level 6 and it has 2 range attack, 1 speed and 6 health. It carries the Slow and Weakens abilities with itself.

image.png

KRON THE UNDYING

I chose KRON THE UNDYING in the last place mainly because of its self-healing and Last Stand ability at 10 mana price. I have a level 4 and it has 4 magic attack, 2 speed and 12 health. It carries the Heal, Divine Stand and Last Stand ability a max level.

Battle Result

Well, the match was quite unpredictable to me as I intentionally used a powerless summoner but after the match started, it was really awesome guys! The opponent used the water Alric deck with neutral and water monsters on me but my melee monsters got able to survive and kill down the enemies one by one.

Let us now take a dive in the gameplay.

First, let us follow the opponent's line-up...

  • My opponent @mewnicorn used Fire summoner Malric against me.
  • At the front position, he used Cerberus Level 8. He chose a healer and retaliate beast to his front and I just hope I get able to kill this furious monster with my warriors.
  • At the second position, he used Prismatic Energy level 8.
  • At the third position, he puts the Elemental Phoenix lev 4.
  • At the fourth position, he chose Peaceful Giant lev 10.
  • At the fifth position, he chose Fire Beetle lev 10.
  • At the last position, he chose Fire Demon lev 6.

My opponent went with all the max cards upon me. He chose 2 blast ability holding monsters which I liked the most because you know, double always works better. But I don't know why he would put that Peaceful giant in an awkward middle position. All the 6 cards of him were maxed and could do more devastating damage if he would do a better placing.

However, my monsters worked great again those blast attacks. My little hero Goblin got a good time and used his sneak magic attack multiple of time. My frontal defence also worked great against tose double-blast attack. The wood nymph and Hydra is a quick combo I came out it and it worked well this time.

It really was a great match and my opponent also did very well. Just that Peaceful Giant t front followed by the Cerberus, and I would be dead I think. Only this time I was luckier.

Yes!
Such great points!
If I'm being honest, I also don't use the 2 Mana Summoners very much, for the reasons you stated. BUT! I should be using them in certain situations. You're right, sometimes one mana point can make or break you.

Great post!
