Splinterlands - Goblin Shaman (Weekly Battle Post)

One of the first common cards I earned is the Goblin Shaman alpha version. Since then I have used it sparingly but at times it has truly come in handy. It's slow ability helps out when facing enemies that attack with speed or it allows my to gain an upper hand in attacking when I combine its use with summoner Pyre.

The following is one battle where I use Goblin Shaman in combination with Pyre to over power my opponent with speed.

Battle Formation

The match was set at 40 mana which I consider pretty much a max in mana use. Pretty high. The rule sets were no healing and no magic monsters. With all splinters except for water allowed to use I lean towards either fire or life. In the end I went with fire considering my opponent previous five battles all but choose earth.

My formation started out with Living Lava followed up with Finas Rage, Goblin Shaman, Serpentine Spy, Ettin Spearman, and finishing off with Sand Worm. The focus here was to hit fast with Finas Rage and Serpentine Spy while having the front and rear as somewhat defensive protection.

My opponent's formation not surprising using earth splinter. They start off with Unicorn Mustang followed up with Flesh Golem, Venari Seedsmith, Mantoid, Goblin Thief, and end with Stonesplitter Orc. This formation appears to be a passive aggressive setup because the summoner at play is Mylor Crowling.

Round 1

At the end of the round both formations took some hit. My Serpentine Spy was knocked out while Sand Worm barely holding on with 2 health. Meanwhile my opponent lost Unicorn Mustang and Venari Seedsmith. This should be a clear sign that my formation is pretty strong in melee attack as it was able to knock out Unicorn Mustang in one round. At the start Unicorn had 10 health.

Round 2

In round 2 my Sand Worm traded blows with Stonesplitter Orc while Goblin Shaman was also knocked out. Mantoid's snipe ability was key to killing Goblin, but at least for two rounds Goblin did its think by slowing down opponent's formation. By end of the round it appears that we our equally match with 3 on 3. However Flesh Golem was close to knock out and since no heal is a rule set it would be a easy kill in the next round.

Round 3

A quick range attack from Ettin and melee from Finas with its reach ability knocked out Flesh Golem and Goblin Thief in that order. With only Mantoid left my opponent is a sitting duck. Range attack at first position is zippo.

Battle Conclusion

The match ends in really three rounds and although it may have appeared closed my formation with its speed and high attack really had the match under raps after the first round. The combination of Pyre and Goblin Shaman allowed my formation to really go at it first attacking making it difficult for my opponent to counter. Even with Mylor's thorn ability it was not enough.
