Splinterlands - Updated Ranking Battle Rewards (My Opinion)

The update came in around a couple a days ago and everyone who was playing has seen and felt its effects. I for one play in the gold league and have 3x my earning per a win. This is very favorable and has also help boost my rental income.

The interface when selecting cards in formation has updated with a nice look to them. Any card that I do not own or have rented out results in a ghost card with a symbol "S" on the top right. I try to avoid using "S" cards as much as I can now to maximize my DEC yield rewards.

If I am unable to avoid using "S" cards I get a warning on reduction in earnings.

My rentals have gone out with a little over 33% in previous seasons. Since DEC rewards are 3x I would hope I can get closer to at least 2x my rental, so somewhere around 8k DEC daily, but note I have kept multiple cards to play through the season rather than renting out all.

In future seasons I may try renting out most of my cards to see how much that will yield me.

We have less than a week left in current season and look forward to seeing the my progress at end of this season. Furthermore its the end of the month so I also will look at my month of May progress in future upcoming Splinterlands posts.

Game Play?

Game play feels the same but the rewards are much higher therefore I rate this current upgrade an A. Its what I had hope for in the aspect of earning more rewards for playing. Looking forward to a fresh season to play and rent more for earning. What do you think about the recent increase in rewards for play to earn?

A recent update in the game's interface during matches will hopefully detour people from cheating the game.

Through the years Splinterlands developers have been neutral in regards to bots playing the game. This may have lead to people finding loopholes to other ways of cheating the game's rewards system when bots seemingly are acceptable in the game.

However as users grew on the platform the same amount of rewards were being distributed to more and more players. This lead to overall smaller rewards for long term players while new players could not earn enough to keep their interest in playing. All the while the developers were also trying to keep the who platform and ecosystem they built sustainable.

A recent upgrade in the game is the hidden opponent during match setup. In the past when players have the rank battle in play they see who their opponent's are and would have 3 minutes to setup their own formation.

image.png

This had lead to some players finding a loophole in earning rewards. What would happen is the player would have several accounts in the same league and whenever they had accounts matched against each other they would make the dummy accounts forfeit their matches leading to the main account taking the win and yielding DEC rewards.

Now players will not know who they face until they have their formations setup making it very difficult to determine what course of action to take for the player/s who have multiple accounts and trying to forfeit losses to yield more rewards.

Conclusions

It is great to see that the Splinterland developers are trying to combat the cheaters. This is strengthening the value of the game and holding up the value of the assets.

It also appears that the developers are focusing in on bots and now allowing those that try to leech rewards. With the reduction in rewards for bronze leagues meanwhile limiting ranking for those who actually do not have the correct amount of collection power to be rewarded for the specific league's ranking battles.

All this work is leading to the right direction for the game to be sustainable. At the same time keep all assets prices relative high compare to where it was even a year ago.

Until next time thanks for reading!!!

As a budget player I am skeptical of this change, and did not expect it to start until next season. I have changed strategies opening several packs which were being reserved before, how will the change impact end of season rewards?

I thought they wouldn't push out the ranked battle rewards until the next season but I guess it's coming early. I don't think the rshares for chest will take effect until next season though. I was a bit surprised to see my ranked battle DEC to go up by a multiple of 2 yesterday.

We're going to learn a lot of the next few seasons and then it will change again with modern/wild split. I wonder how this will affect casual spenders/player and perhaps investors alike. Will it make more sense to rent out more of your collection or will the new rewards system ultimately have you holding more to use/play. Will renting to play in higher leagues still make sense. Many questions. Many moving parts in the rewards update. Time will tell. I hope it's the benefit of the community overall. I believe that's what the developers want and I support them.
