Splinterlands Weekly Challenge | Carnage Titan – Dragon

This weeks' challenge is to use any monster or summoner from the Dragon Splinter, and the Carnage Titan is so badass the choice was simple. This monster was the 8th airdrop card in the Chaos Legion series, and I can promise you I was pretty quick to buy the remaining cards I needed to level him up after the airdrop.

He's a super strong strong monster with both Reach, Double Strike and Shield abilities, making him a terrifying second monster in the lineup.. in the right conditions of course – no single strategy in Splinterlands is a guaranteed victory.

I actually hadn't read the Lore about this guy before now. The following is just an excerpt, so I'd definitely you go read the rest of it as well, cause this one is thorough.

He was called Holicrai the Magnificent and without doubt, he was the finest Gloridax guardian in the history of the land. He was as feared as some of the dragons that lived on Dragon’s Roost. The people of Draykh-Nahka would sing songs about him, and the ancient scholars would say that the sagas told about him didn’t do him justice. When he passed to the other side, they took his armor and displayed it in the Warrior’s Hall, deep within the Centrum. His bones were laid to rest in the Guardian’s Chapel on the far side of the city, a shrine open to the people so they might pay their respects for all he had done. [...]

Seriously though, read the whole thing. Turns out he's actually an abomination created by the 'crazed tinker' Morloth, who robbed Holicrai's grave of the remains of the fallen hero. Dr. Blight apparently also had something to do with it.

Ruleset, analysis and battle

56 Mana battle Standard ruleset (i.e. no modifiers).

With almost all splinters available and such a high mana cap, it's pretty much impossible to guess what the opponent will go for. So I'll simply try to use the biggest and baddest monsters I've got in my collection, and hope for the best.

Team lineup:
  • Summoner: Selenia Sky
  • Pos 1: Agor Longtail (lvl 3)
  • Pos 2: Carnage Titan (lvl 3)
  • Pos 3: Zyvax Vuul (lvl 3)
  • Pos 4: Fire Elemental (lvl 5)
  • Pos 5: Dragon Jumper (lvl 2)
  • Pos 6: Lightning Dragon (lvl 2)
Strategy:
  • Selenia will buff my Ranged attack monsters, but her primary reason for being here this round, is to give me access to all the monsters in the Dragon Splinter.
  • First off, Agor Longtail. WHAT A BEAST! A 15 Mana monster.. It has both a magic and melee attack, 14 Life, 6 Armor, 3 Speed, Self Heal, Taunt, Void Armor and Flying. Wow. I think it's actually the first time I use this guy. Anyways, he should make a very good primary tank.
  • Secondary tank + melee attacker with it's Reach and Double Strike, is the Carnage Titan.
  • Zyvax Vuul is a ranged monster (that will get buffed by Selenia) and sports Flying, Recharge and Close Range. Meaning if by any chance both my insane tanks gets killed, it will still be able to attack.
  • Then the Fire Elemental with its Blast and Affliction abilities. Should definitely be able inflict some nice splash damage on the other team, even if it only has 2 health.
  • Second to last is the Dragon Jumper, with a strong and fast melee attack. Its Opportunity ability is likely to allow it to do a lot of damage .. if it gets the chance.
  • And lastly the Lightning Dragon. Fast, strong ranged attacks, with a chance of Stun.

To battle, my dragons! Do your worst.

I guess this match wasn't completely fair, given my opponent had several level 1 cards. But regardless, I think it was a fun match to watch. Seeing crazy strong monsters deal tons of damage often is :D

It's always fun to use the Dragon Splinter with almost zero restriction regarding mana cost. Especially with the arrival of the super-expensive monsters from the Riftwatchers series. Until next week! Thanks for reading.

Side-note; Use of SplinterGlossary/LeoGlossary links

You may have noticed that most of the Splinterlands terms I use in these articles are also links that point to entries in the @leoglossary project. You can read more about this exciting project in one of their latest official updates, which should also give you a better understanding of why I'm putting these links in my Splinterlands articles (and why you should consider doing the same).
