A Black Dragon and a Lich, with too much time for a speech (a Splinterlands battle challenge) - Day 20

What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a card game, similar with Hearthstone, where you can play battle against other players to get a better rank or in tournaments. It is a NFT game based on Hive Blockchain, but the crypto rewards (DEC is the name of their native token) can be used on ETH, TRX, WAX and on the lately added Binance Smart Chain (you can provide liquidity to mine CUB on Cub Finance). You can also provide liquidity on ETH network, but this is a bit more expensive, even if you get some Uniswap bonus in DEC paid straight to your game account (I got 3-4000 DEC monthly with around 30K DEC providing liquidity). DEC is similar with a stablecoin, most of the time, 1000 DEC being $1 most of the time, but right now it is much more than that.

There is an airdrop daily, for a whole year, currently at day 84/365, i think, and you can still get some nice governance tokens just by playing the game for the next year. Everything counts, cards, DEC on HIVE, WAX, ETH and BSC, lands, titles, skins. You can maximize the airdrop by staking all you SPS for a 61% APR right now. You can rent your expensive or useful cards now, so extra DEC is coming weekly. Chaos Legion cards are here, first we have a 30 dayspre-sale, where you may receive some vouchers to get access to the packs early (1 voucher for every 4000 SPS stacked). There are bonuses like 10% less for 100 packs bought, 15% for 500 and 20% for 2000, also, you get a discounted price if you use SPS tokens. On top of this, if you buy more than 1000 packs you may receive a title. For every 50 packs you buy on presdale you have a guaranteed card on the next airdrops, and for every 1000 packs you have a guaranteed gold card on the next airdrops. Overall, it will be difficult to get the right amount of packs for the maximum discount. All lands were sold out and will be introduced next, i believe, with a price of 500$ on average for each at the moment. Just check this awesome page about what are the Lands supposed to do.

This is one of my favourite cards when the right conditions are met (Dragon, Equalizer ruleset). The Black Dragon is a legendary Dragon Monster, with 6 Mana cost, Life Leech (Increase health when damages enemies) and Fly (Increased mele and ranged damage evasion) at level 1, Slow (Reducing Speed by 1) at level 2 and Strenghten (Increase allies health by 1) at level 3. At max level it has 3 Magic damage, 2 Speed, no Armor and 4 Health. It is weak against Opportunity skill, despite the significant boost provided, so it is better to be used with a tank with Taunt. Useful on Equaliser ruleset. The price is quite prohibitive, the cheapest max level being $840.

So, for the challenge, this were the starting conditions:

Mana Limit: 25

Rulesets: Unprotected (No Armor)

Teams:

Mine - Summoner: Delwin Dragonscale (+1 Magic Damage) with Death Splinter chosen to be used. Haunted Spirit as tank, with Heal and Magic Reflect, backed up by Shadowy presence just because it costs 1 Mana and it is boosting health (much needed for Leech team). As for the Magic damage, I chose Black Dragon and Ancient Lich, with some speed boost from Creeping Ooze and a Furious Chicken to get some eventual Sneak hits. Retrospectively, the Chicken could have been more useful in front of the Magic users.

Opponent - Summoner: Zintar Mortalis (Decrease Melee Attack by 1), with the Chicken masterfully used on first spot, then Lord Arianthus as tank, Tortisian Chief as healer and magic damage user, Halfling Alchemist to decrease the attack and Cornealus with self heal and ranged damage. A decent team.

This was a game of magic skills, using both leech to make up health for the magic reflect used by the enemy. For a moment I was afraid that Lord Arianthus will prevail, but the Black Dragon sacrificed himself, literally, to kill him. The game started slow, with his Chicken dying first, followed by my Haunted Spirit in Round 3, and my Shadowy Presence in Round 4, with the Black Dragon killing Arianthus and being mortally wounded in the process. Now, without the magic reflect, the Lich managed to kill the Tortisian Chief and the Halfling, with 1 Health left after the Alchemist Redemption killed the Ooze and the Chicken. Now face to face, in the Round 5, Ancient Lich versus Cornealus. Not a real fight, really, with the Lich finally winning in Round 24 after the fatigue killed the Healing Eye.

Star of the game - The Ancient Lich with his Leech skill, for making up to 32 Health !?!

On the side note, my continuous support for Splintertalk.io is going well, with my SPT tokens number raising to 1 million. All of it is delegated to @monster-curator, as this account is doing a great work curating the best posts on the forum. Next, I am slowly building some SPT power to manually curate on Splinterlalk.io also. But for the next 30 days I am exchanged the SPT rewarded for vouchers.

All the best, George
