Splinterlands: Nodes Purchased

With the exception of Dice Booster packs, I have always purchased Splinterlands assets as soon as available. I learned early on in my experience with the ecosystem that you never know how quickly they will disappear and then have to struggle to find at a higher price on the secondary market. The most recent example was with the Legendary Summoner Waka which disappeared in a matter of seconds given its limited supply. While demand for assets has decreased since then, the launch of Nodes would not be different for me.

However, the question for me then became one of how many to buy. I knew I was going to buy at least one if provided the opportunity. My passion for Splinterlands started with me going down the Blockchain and Crypto rabbit hole which quickly taught me the importance of decentralization. I have continued to experience events in my life that have demonstrated the issues surrounding centralized organizations and their power. Therefore, my thought is that if I can add to the decentralization of an ecosystem I enjoy and benefit from, then I am all in!

There was plenty of uncertainty surrounding the Node presale as markets have continued there bearish action which continues to impact SPS and other assets. While it has been painful, I continue to remember that these are AirDrops I never expected when accumulating my assets. Now, considering the opportunity to participate in the ecosystem in many diverse ways has me excited about the value that not only I can bring to the community but the many others building around it. It is clear as of late as many more third party sites and services continue to engage around the protocol for the advantage of the ecosystem. These are clear examples of value being created.

Since I had been holding all of my AirDrops of both SPS and Vouchers, I had plenty on liquid balance for the presale. After watching Neal’s Monster Maverick show on Node potential returns, I was sold. I originally did not think I would buy more than 2 as I do not have the technical know-how to run a node. My thought was to buy one to test the waters around running a node and one to speculate. However, I think that the advantages of finding additional sources of passive income like nodes are attractive to me longer term. I went all in and ended with 4 nodes.

It made me realize a loss on my SPS but I believe that those will come back in terms of income in the future and value. Also, it was a pleasant surprise to see the team announce Voucher rewards being deployed before the expected the timeline. We are in the middle of a Crypto Winter and projects that continue engaging their community and building their ecosystems will surely succeed. I believe Splinterlands in one of those projects (although I am clearly biased).

I won't run a node, but I know people who will. This way, I am pretty sure it will be possible to delagate the license and earn passively still. It is going to be interesting! I would like another, but it depends on the SPS prices if I do grab one.

I want to give it a try but my technical expertise may be in doubt to get it done!
