I have started playing some anytime tournaments and they've been very fun! I enjoy these much more than the regular single-elimination tournaments where you have to play at a certain hour. It never feels good to schedule a time to play, maybe even rent some cards and be out of it in the first couple of rounds. For me, these have been much more satisfying to play.
A few days ago, I've finally done it! I placed first in one:
It was a Noob Chaotic Kobold Mining, which is a Novice League, Chaos Legion only, and no Legendaries tournament. The entry fee is 400 DEC (or 5 DEC for Bronze League and below). This is the prize pool:
In these tournaments, each person plays X games in a 24 hours period. The top 40% advances to the next phase, which works exactly the same in the next 24 hours period. That means you only need enough time to submit all teams, twice, in two days!

Day 1:
Match 1:
Match 2:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_WCKYqVu7usj71ysR8Vq6&ref=olaf.gui
I decided to go with Magic. I took advantage of heal and triple magic. My opponent went with Mycelic Infantry to make full use of Reverse Speed. His Goblin attacked first, which was great for me because his Infantry didn't get healed. After that, the game was decided.
Match 3:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_9fUmPVbCMKjh2dhwvbB0&ref=olaf.gui
My opponent picked Obsidian but only 2 magic monsters. I went with Water with a healer and a repairer. At first, it looked like I was losing, however, Nerissa was fantastic. Once Goblin Tower was in the first position the game was over.
Match 4:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_niCYB1eyykPc1gjvYhYe&ref=olaf.gui
With Equalizer, having more monsters wins games. Also, when the ranged monster got into the first position, I was basically fighting only one monster.
Match 5:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_FlfkUWWTXJPzm0WuDLlZ&ref=olaf.gui
My opponent simply had better position in this game. I should have done what he did and gotten a draw out of the game.
Match 6:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_lB4jEL7QaKn2902sStyz&ref=olaf.gui
We both went with the same strategy but my Time Mage won me the game.
Match 7:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_55dYYcsI8nJIvO7J0LYV&ref=olaf.gui
With only Obsidian available, teams were very similar. I got lucky going first with Goblin Psychic a few times, which won me the game.
Match 8:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_Jm1wIo9eP6ymgWlLjAu7&ref=olaf.gui
We both went with Kelya but I had 2 magic monsters which are very powerful, bypassing shields and making full use of Equal Opportunity and Blast.
Match 9:
Match 10:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_Lmx9637naR3azBaNMeKX&ref=olaf.gui
We had very similar teams but Forgotten One was fantastic for me. Even losing the speed tie for Disintegrator, didn't matter because Forgotten One is a beast! Never forget about him!
9-1 was a fantastic start on the first day! Could even have been 9 wins and 1 draw if I had played that game better. I was also lucky on 2 of my wins, which could have been losses with different speed luck.
Day 2:
Match 1:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_EZufOlTN9m8AzrzxBsdu&ref=olaf.gui
Weird game because Enrage works in a strange way with Reverse Speed. Kelya's extra speed ended up being very good for me and the healer was not very useful. I simply had more firepower and won.
Match 2:
Same exact team, so we get a draw.
Match 3:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_AK7Ond5ADoWpJg72MHND&ref=olaf.gui
This was a special battle because it was against my own brother! It ended up being a very close battle with his Deeplurker being enraged and attacking for 5 on my Silent Sha-vi, which has 5 HP, taking the Divine Shield, before dying on the response. And I had less speed on several attacks, so I could certainly have lost.
Match 4:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_vS4MQPldz97XQuWhrs3k&ref=olaf.gui
Equal opportunity with low mana and Earthquake is tricky. I didn't think I needed more monsters but it ended up being the wrong choice.
Match 5:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_DJuIuQ9HIaqTjnsyr5yv&ref=olaf.gui
Very similar teams, which is only natural when it's only one splinter allowed, especially in a format that is so restricted. I don't understand why my opponent went with Riftwing, especially on the back with the Melee Mayhem ruleset.
Match 6:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_It3G3NH17hXdB0XE8pS2&ref=olaf.gui
I got 2 misses in a row, but I don't think I could have won anyway. My opponent's team was better.
Match 7:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_UZfiRtX3ZAmXkIcsXxpd&ref=olaf.gui
Close game here. Silent Sha-vi was able to do some work before reaching the first position and that was important.
Match 8:
Match 9:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_h5wNGghdfPSk0MY6QyXA&ref=olaf.gui
I went with mostly magic, making armor and Scavo almost useless. My healer did die pretty fast to Deeplurker, but the game was still easily mine.
And that was it. With a final result of 15-3-1, I got first place and 10 SPS!
I hope you enjoyed reading this and if that's the reason you decide to start participating in these tournaments, please let me know!
