Cannon fodder

Been a while since I've joined this challenge! This week's featured monster is one I definitely don't use that often, nor do I frequently see on the battlefield.

The Animated Corpse has two things in his advantage: decent health for its low mana, and Void from level 4. But with the low speed and just an average attack, it's easy to find better alternatives, in my opinion. Nevertheless, one of the beauties of this game is that there's always a ruleset where any monster can be a great fit, no matter how bad it seems! As it was the case in this battle.

Rulesets:

  • Little league: monly monsters with 4 mana or less can be used

  • Equaliser: all monster have the same hp as the highest hp monster in the game.

These two rulesets together make for a very fun battle, since most of the handicap of little league is taken away by the equaliser rule.

My strategy:

Decided to rely on ranged damage dealers, so Selenia was the best choice as summoner. And half of my team had poison ability, to further boost the archer's damage!

  • Animated corpse as tank: decent HP and void ability should be enough to absorb some damage, as my other damage dealers made their job

  • Skeleton assassin would go perfect to replace the tank, and the speed and poison ability would come in handy.

  • Twisted jester, a strong sniper

  • Venari bonesmith: I prefered to place it after the jester, so the leech ability would make him gain some more HP before going to the battlefront.

  • Haunted spider, decent attack with the summoner's buff and poison

  • Fire spitter, strong damage dealer.

My opponent had a really good team and a good strategy too, relying on the melee attackers. It seemed a very balanced battle with the initial line up.

My animated corpse didn't made it past the first round.

The skeleton replaced him as a tank, not without inflicting poison on the enchanted defender! As the battle went on, the damage dealers kept doing their job perfectly.

Two cards with 4 ranged damage helped a lot! But as the assassin went down, the jester could only help and absorb damage. My bonesmith didn't accumulate health, due to the other summoner's reflect ability. The damage and poison were enough, thow.

And as he reached the frontline, only one opponent remained, and was helpless; especially when poisen kicked in too!

It was one of my favourite battles in these last days! You can check it in full here!

See you on the battlefield! We're all going wild in two days! 😉
