New rewards, should I play in Silver or Gold?

Hello folks,

as you hopefully all know by now, there's going to be huge changes to the ranked reward system, starting 8 days from now. The bottom line is that higher leagues will earn you significantly higher rewards. This will mainly be influenced by your win rate (no wins no rewards) and the cards you own (no ownership no rewards/less rewards).

I'm currently playing in Silver with maxed out Chaos Legion Water, Life and Dragon decks, as well as maxed out reward cards and a few Untamed and Dice level 1 copies. This has put me in a very comfortable spot, where I literally cruise through the league until I hit the rating 100-200 below the leaderboards, where it gets too competitive for me.

In light of this and the Modern Format, which will have lower CP requirements and is supposed to come out shortly after ranked rewards (my guess is 2 to 6 weeks) I decided to accumulate cards and push my decks to Gold league level. I now have a low Gold Water, Life (both level 5 summoners) and Dragon (level 6 summoner) deck with the most important cards. Since the new changes will make having a wider collection (for daily focus) and general win rate more important, I'm not sure anymore if playing with punctually strong but very budget like decks in Gold will be better than playing with maxed out Silver decks in Silver. If I were to sell the cards I aquired for Gold I could get a fully maxed out Earth Chaos Legion deck and partially maxed out Fire or Death deck.

There are also some other factors to consider That's why I made a pro/contra list for both Silver and Gold.

Gold

Pros:

  • Much higher value loot chests
  • More fun due to new abilities and fresh gameplay

Cons:

  • Fewer daily loot chests due to only having 3 out of 6 splinters for daily focus quests
  • Fewer seasonal loot chests due to not being as competitive with budget decks
  • No experience in Gold, will have to learn the meta
  • Not going to be competitive in tournaments (or will have to rent a lot of cards)
  • More expensive to grow the collection, add a new splinter or ever max it out at gold level
  • If not competitive enough and have to play in Silver, combined cards above Silver level become "dead capital"
  • Depending on the price of the legendary summoners, probably won't have the funds to get more than 1 to Gold level
  • Needing all my CP to play in Gold league

Silver

Pros:

  • Lots of daily loot chests due to having 4 to 5 splinters for daily focus quest
  • Lots of seasonal chests due to having maxed out decks/ being competitive
  • Lots of experience in Silver, know the meta
  • Going to be very competitive in tournaments (especially Chaos Legion only)
  • Growing the collection will be easier and might be able to max out the set at Silver level entirely at some point
  • Depending on the price of the legendary summoners, probably will have the funds to get at least 2 to Silver level
  • If too competitive for the league, can still try my luck in Gold
  • Not needing all my CP to play in Silver league, can rent out the remaining for extra income

Cons:

  • Much lower value loot chests
  • Less fun, no fresh gameplay

Conclusion

As you can see Silver has way more pro arguments than Gold. It basically comes down to how competitive I can be in Gold with my decks. The chest value is significantly higher, wich would increase my earnings and thus the speed at which I can grow my collection. On the other hand being very competitive both in ranked and tournaments in Silver might equal this out and allow me to grow my collection at the same pace, while not taking the risk of not being competitive enough and having combined cards I can't use. However there is the possibility of me already being competitive enough with 3 decks and the 4th and 5th won't add all that much. Whereas I would need GF cards or Alpha/Beta to really maximize my earnings in Silver.

Overall I'm leaning more towards selling the cards and getting that maxed out Silver Earth deck + something else, but I could really use some advice here!

Thanks!

As I understand it declining rewards increases the post's reach and since I have more question than answers for the community in this one I wanted to get it out to as many people as possible
