Hello everyone,

It is the weekends again and I have some time out of my still busy week to post for this week's battle challenge.

LINK to BATTLE

THEME: Animated Corpse
Edition: BETA
Rarity: Common
Element: DEATH
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: VOID at Level 4

The most notable skill of Animated Corpse is the Void which is extremely useful against magic team.

VOID:
Reduced damage from Magic attacks. Magic attack damage gets halved (rounded up), except attack 1 which deals 0 damage.

Let's move on to the battle, the ruleset for my battle was "Back to Basics" which means that all monsters lose their basic abilities. Mana cap is 15. Usually when encountered with a low mana cap battle, I usually consider the Death Deck, or the Water Deck, or the Llama + Healing monster deck if Earth is available.

Before the start of the battle, I saw that the opponent uses water deck quite frequently, and seeing that with all monsters losing their abilities, Water seems to be the mostly choice that my opponent will take. So my choice would be Owster Rotwell for his Magic Reflect and Animated corpse for the low cost but moderate health points (6) to tank some hits and reflect them.

Positioning and Choice of Monsters

Summoner:
Owster Rotwell
My gamble is on the use of Magic deck, so Magic reflect and surviving long enough should win the day

Animated Corpse in First Position:

There is no other low mana card that gives 6 health for a level 1 and 2 melee attack should hopefully kill of some monsters on the opposing side.

Shadowy Presence in 2nd Position:

Although there is no attack from Shadowy Presence but this card is low mana and is excellent for taking some hits to protect mages, and ranged attackers

Dark Ferryman in 3rd Position:

Low cost, but with 5 health to survive and reflect as much damage as possible

Twisted Jester in Last Positon:

This card has two attacks for 4 mana which is also another card that is well worth the mana spent. It is well loved for it's snipe although this time round we can't use it.

Round 1:

In the first round, spirit miner and the magi sphinx from the opponent team killed my animated corpse with the one hit from each of them. In the meantime, my animated corpse was able to deal 4 reflected damage back (2 on each of the monster). My twisted jester killed his furious chicken, while my dark ferry man took down his albatross

Round 2:

In the 2nd round, my shadowy present is attacked, and successfully reflected once more 2 damage to each of the remaining monsters. In this round, Magi Sphinx was killed from the reflection, and Spirit Miner is left with 2 health after the reflection

image.png

The round is sealed with the final death blow from my Twisted Jester thus killing the last standing monster. Spirit Miner you will be missed. (Just a slight note, spirit miner dodge is really useful but in this case, due to the ruleset I have the upper hand)

What do I like about Animated Corpse the most:

The high health for the low mana. It has low speed, which is useful for reverse speed rulesets.

What I do not like?

At level 1 it doesn't have void, so when I am not using levelled summoner, I prefer the haunted spirit more due to its heal ability

I have not posted much on the daily rewards quests mainly because I haven't been getting any great loots. Do follow me and I try to post more exciting battles in future if time permits. So far my journey in Splinterlands have been filled with ups and downs, hopefully with the launch of Chaos Legion general sales, there will be more opportunity for new players like me to grow more with the games.

Also today is the first time I created a custom cover image, it's actually been quite a while since I used an image editing tool, and GIMP is a tool that I am not so familiar with. Let me know your thoughts on the simple cover image if any. Hope to make better ones in future.

Also just a heads up my edits on the post is usually to correct mistakes such as, spelling errors, and fun fact, my username is pix21, 21 not because I have 21 accounts, but because 2021 is the start of my journey with Splinterlands :)

If anyone has not signed up with the game feel free to use my referral link

I wish everyone a...
