No Kelp Initiate? No Problem: Budget Replacement

If you've been currently playing the super awesome Djinn Oshannus + Venari Wavesmith combo to decimate your opponents, you might have encountered a particular problem. RENTALS ARE SO EXPENSIVE.

The strategy is to put meat shields to protect your magic damage then bring in a creeping ooze to get that turn one. For new players, this is pretty viable and should help you climb the ranks pretty fast, for a price. Djinn Oshanus costs around 30 DEC, while the Venari Wavesmith costs around 1 DEC. For a player starting out, these are actually expensive. If you want one of the best meat shield like the Kelp Initiate, this would set you back a bit more.

Since when is a Kelp Initiate supposed to cost 33 DEC? Yes the other ones shown are 3.75 but you're always quick to be beaten to these, even if you use peakmonsters. So what are you to do? Do you waste time and just keep trying? NO! There's a budget alternative!

The Budget Replacement!

Let me introduce to you the Frost Lion!

With it's skilled void armor, it works very well with the protect ability of Venari Wavesmith. This means that it effectively will be able to take 4 magic damage! Yes, it's not as good as kelp initiate but look at the price!

It only costs 0.10 DEC to rent and to own one will cost you 1 USD. It's one of the cards I feel new players are sleeping on. Let's show some love to the Frost Lion and respect it as a meatshield!

This is the teams I basically used to go from novice to 1k MMR in one of my accounts. I decided to test out how far this comp goes and it works wonders. I currently have over 95% win rate. The Djinn Oshannus + Venari Wavesmith is truly OP in the Bronze League.

Conclusion

If the price of kelp initiate were cheap, I'd still want to use that. However I dislike wasting time renting and try to get whatever I can. I like that there's a cheap alternative like the Frost Lion. The next time you find yourself wasting time renting, remember this cute little fella!

This is a great combo, I think your right that the frost lion can be a good card to just take damage.
