The 500 DEC Challenge: Day 7 Update

day 7.png

It's 7 days now, and we're back at it again! With the ECR now at 100%, time to farm those DEC.

Rentals

My rental strategy today was still to build teams with the highest bonus DEC as much as possible. Today's first Daily Quest was the Life splinter so I decided to build a Life deck!

As before, my goal was to earn as much as I can per fight so I had to find as much alpha and gold foil cards to rent. I settled on these cards and focused on getting more neutrals today, in case the Life splinters weren't available for my game modes.

The total cost of Rent is 378.957 DEC.

Strategy

Remember: My goal is to put as many cards in the match as possible, so I get a higher bonus.

I would always pick the Life Splinter as my team. I would first pick either Goblin Mech, when I anticipate heavy shields, Pelacor Conjurer, when I anticipate Magic for low Mana fights, or Clay Golem, when I anticipate heavy Magic fights. My secondary tank is either the Prismatic Energy or Pelacor Conjurer. I then place the Silvershield Knight, then bring in the other melee attacks to take advantage of the Inspire ability. I place the Divine Healer to take care of the healing of my tank. After that, I would place the Silvershield Sherriff or Silvershield Archers at the positions 4-6. Lastly, I would bring the Shield Bearer with the taunt ability to put at the last position when I think the situation warrants it.

Day Highlight

I expected the enemy to be heavy in magic but I didn't expect the Coral Wraith. I was able to win this match versus a legendary summoner. This proves you don't need legendary cards to beat enemies, but outplay and out-level them, by utilizing the level limits of the league. It was a close match but the moment their tank was destroyed, it was downhill from there.

Problems Encountered

Problem #1
The rentals this time cost way more than last time. I was thinking that I should start a different challenge of renting enough power to stay in silver 3 for the whole season.

Problem #2
My second daily quest was the death splinter. I wasn't able to finish this one because I prioritized choosing the Life Splinter as much as possible and only used the death splinter when the Life splinter was unavailable.

Total So Far

Earnings: 967.868 DEC (193.57% UP)

Rating: 1732

I wasn't able to take a picture of me at Silver 2, because rentals timed out.

Day 9 Plan

Now that I'm at this rating, I will be renting enough to get Silver 1. Depending on the cost, I might try and go for Gold 3, as my rating isn't too far away from it. At the rate that rental prices are going, I might choose to remain at Silver 2. Let's see what happens then!

This is very interesting to watch. Your big problem is going to be keeping your rating at season's end when the rental prices get expensive. You may just have to prioritize renting the least expensive cards with the most Collection Power without considering actually being able to use them. Otherwise you might eat up most of your "profits" just maintaining your Collection Power. I'm looking forward to how this finishes and what your overall results will be.

It would be cool if you could do a full writeup of your how the season went from start to finish with where balances were throughout. It would probably be a lot of work but it would definitely give people a full vision of the scope of what you did to accomplish your final results.

Keep at it. I'm enjoying your reports!

Thanks for this! The end of season should be something, but I'm hoping the auto rental system through bids will be fully implemented before then. I'm slowly writing the end of season report, and hopefully this experiment will encourage people to really push themselves to go beyond just farming in bronze. There's so much potential for profit in the higher leagues, as well as it is honestly way more fun because of all the game modes and players are generally way better there.

Yes, I've been playing Silver and have just made my way into Gold. The rewards are definitely much better and the battles can be pretty entertaining. They can also be very frustrating as you start to run into a little more "luck" dictating some things. Things like does your guy poison them or not? Does your Stun hit? Are you getting "missed" with your high speed flyer and/or are you missing them? Strategy stills rules the day but, like I said, there can be a little more luck involved which is annoying.

That said, battles take less than five minutes so...you just need to forget about it and go to the next one.

I love your approach. It was very useful for me. I am also curious about the renting strategy to get enough power to stay in silver 3 for the whole season. I am looking forward to your next post. Many thanks!

Thank you! I checked the cost of staying in silver 3 for the whole season. As of now it costs around 0.75 USD to 1 USD per day. This is using the starter deck more but wins might get a bit harder. I still have to refine this strategy and find out what works best before I make this a full article.

The matter of renting cards for power is definitely challenging. I have a good rating but I'm still in a small league right now. I will also have to decide about that. I guess it does get you a lot more profit staying in a league the entire season than at the end, isn't it?

Well, based on what I've done, I earn a lot more by stacking quests and effectively farming every other day. That way, I can farm in the higher leagues for half the cost. I don't know for certain if you'll gain more by staying in a particular league and renting for the whole season.

I still think the sweet spot is somewhere between silver 2-gold 3. Rent doesn't cost too much and the DEC earned can easily cover it .
