Mandarin: Battle With The Water Angel
Hello Splinters
If you're reading this, is because I'm on my keys again with another week of splinterlands battle challenge. Today, I share with you a special battle, special in the sense that it's my first battle for the new SPS season after the last season ended yesterday. For the record, last season was really great. At least it was my first season of earning up to 50 season chests. I hope to replicate the same effort this season.

A look at the lore shows that mandarins are beautiful fishes found in the most gorgeous of tropical waters and have a peaceful coexistence. The lore also said the Angelic Mandarinfish is blessed with the magic of the sea which makes me wonder why splinterlands didn't design it to be a magic attack splinter. Anyway, if you're so interested in knowing more about Angelic Mandarin, hit the lore link above while I take a quick dive into the stat it offers.
Obviously, ANGELIC MANDARIN is one of those splinterlands cards that has eight levels of existence. The first thing to note is that it is a ranged attack splinter and it's of the water element. The First four levels of mandarin have one ranged damage while the other last four have two. Other stats can be seen in the above image. A new ability is introduced at level four with another one at level eight.

ALRIC STORMBRINGER: Rare summoner Alric is one important card when using magic as your baseline strategy. Alric is beneficial to friendly magic monsters because it offers the benefit of an additional one magic damage. That means, monsters with only one magic damage of their own will get to battle with two magic attacks under Alric. The same goes for all friendly magic monsters. Alric was the summoner choice for this battle and was made available at level two through the rental market.
DJINN OSHANNUS: Oshannus is always ready to battle with its two magic attacks, five speeds, and ten health which is complimented with a void ability at level one. In this battle, Alric made Oshannus battle with three magic damage which turned out to be too much for the opposition team. Oshannus has other abilities but those do not apply to the level of monster used in this battle. Lastly, having a void makes it anti-magic and good for defence positions.
VENARI WAVESMITH: Wavesmith builds a roof over all friendly monsters with its protect ability which offers two amor to all team monsters. This rare card is also a magic attack class with one magic damage. Also, with two speeds, and three health in level one, wavesmith made it to the end of the battle
ANGELIC MANDARIN: Being discussed this week is this card and in this battle, it operated from level one and offered one melee damage using two battling speeds and five health.
ICE PIXIE: Pixie low mana makes her a good fit for all kinds of battle. Also a magic attack monster with one magic damage, Pixie has three battling speeds and one health which makes it a monster to be rightly protected. It's also a flying monster which increases its chances of evading attacks from melee and ranged monsters
The Arising Questions
Did My Strategy Work? "Yes". When I first saw the lineup of enemy fire monsters, I thought maybe they had a shot but it turned out to be brutal for them. Losing only one monster out of four monsters used proved that the strategy was indeed a strong one. Asked if I will do anything differently if given another opportunity. The answer is yes, I will simply substitute Mandarin with another magic attack damage to increase my damage numbers.
What I Think about Angelic Mandarin: In a real battle I would hardly rate Mandarin average because I don't believe it has what it takes to battle in the presence of some deadly monsters. Although, Triage, and Silence ability made it better in the later level but until I start using that level, I wouldn't know how it feels.
