The Journey of the Wolf

Let me take a little break from the guides and reflect a little bit on my recent journey.

5 weeks into NFTS

It has been 5 weeks only since I have gotten back into crypto.
Going back to the time when bitcoin was worth a couple hundred Euros, I was trying to mine it on my potato computer but then gave up because the energy costs weren't worth the return.
Fastforward a couple years to the year where butterfly labs has developped mining asics and a friend of mine and I pooled our money together to order one that took a year to arrive. By the time it arrived the ROI was in the basement but we managed to at least get our money back - We had a full Bitcoin.
We've been holding that coin on vircurex and then they got hacked so we never even got to claim it.
Technically it's still there but we can't claim it so we decided to leave the crypto world which now we know was a huge mistake.

Completely by chance i stumbled upon NFTs a couple weeks ago and got badly burned in two ETH projects; however that was also where I found out about play to earn games though axie had way too much of a paywall for me to get in and frankly I found the gameplay boring - a game must be fun even if you earn through it.

4 weeks on the Hive Blockchain

After getting into cryptomines a passive p2e game, I started searching for other games and stumbled upon one that is known to all of us:

Without further ado, I jumped into it, bought the spell book and started learning the game.
Having played MTG since I was 8 years old, I've always been an avid card game player.
It didn't end at MTG either; Yugioh, Pokemon, Legend of the 5 Rings, Digimon... you name it - if it was during my active cardgame time, I've probably played or at least looked into it.
I began my journey in Splinterlands and then propagated to the whole of the Hive block chain - tried out the existing games but only stuck to Rising Star, Exode and Splinterlands - the others weren't really my cup of tea in terms of games.

3 weeks on twitch

Then I found out that there was a discord community for the game and poked my nose into there. While I was looking around the channels suddenly there was a ping about @holoz0r going live on twitch. I followed the link and won 40 DEC on it.

The next two days I've been sniping cards from the market at very low prices.
Most of them were set at ridiculously cheap prices by the OG Queen @clove71 herself and sniping these allowed me to really get my journey going. That was the time where I started to slowly understand the difference in editions and CP while slowly discovering the Splinterlands streamer community thanks to all the raids they were doing among themselves.

2 weeks as a streamer

After talking to others in the NFT discords about that awesome game that I found, many told me that they already knew about it, but that they found it too dificult to understand.
That's where the idea to stream has been born.
After voicing the idea on @drabs587 's stream, I got such a massive support and @iamrentaw suggested helping me get set up.

The Streamer known as Darthwolfgaming was thus born and it's been a massive rollercoaster ride ever since. Big shoutout to all of the streamers in the #nosleepgang who have aceepted me in their midst and keep the supportive spirit going.

1 week as a blogger

Finally, my recent addition to the fun things that I've started doing is a blog.
I am trying to come up with something interesting to post every day - even if it's just an unlikely battle win on 3speak, so i am grateful for everyone that's following me and showing me that my posts don't go unnoticed but rather manage to entertain a couple people whenever my crazy mind comes up with something to write.

I thank everyone who has been a part of my journey and hope to meet many more in the future.
Thank you for Reading,
Darthwolf

hehe it was SO great to meet you today! and I'm looking forward to hearing more about your journey!!

just a tip - don't use images that are copyrighted on your posts, i THINK that you could use a screenshot of your game screen for splinterlands? (ask @bluefinstudios or @shadowspub about that -they might know better than me! hehe) but you have one above that has a copyright mark right on it... that's definitely a no-no hehehe

but when you're just starting out - people will tell you these things so you wont' get in trouble! :)

but try to be careful of that. This is a paid blog that you're writing, so have to always be careful that you're not getting paid using other people's copyrighted images and stuff! :)

other than that - i love your voice on here - love your excitement - love that you're looking to help people - and you definitely have me THINKING about starting that game again hahahahaa

but i really shouldn't LOLOLOLOL i have very little time as it is - and I can't imagine me pulling stuff for games right now (though i'm soooooooooooo tempted hahahaha i'm sucha freaking gamer at heart - but they ADDICT me fast hahahahahaha)

nice to meet you again! see you next week at PYPT i hope!

I'm not much of a gamer, so it is a bit difficult for me to understand the whole streaming thing. Sitting at my computer for a couple of hours, doing nothing but watching someone else play a game does not sound like a good time for me. But, it must have some benefit to gamers since so many people seem to do it. Kudos for finding something you like! 🙂
