Weekly Challenge - Pirate Captain

This is a total coincidence. I believe this is the first time I am using Pirate Captain, and very coincidentally voila! The theme for the week is Pirate Captain too! So yea, time to share my maiden experience with everyone!

Truth be told, there is a reason why this was the first time I am using this monster. It is actually pretty hard to use. To me, it is quite a weird monster. Being a ranged attacker, a higher level of this monster would give the "Rally" ability, which I honestly felt that would be more appropriate for a melee type monster. Nevertheless, it is a base set card so nobody is complaining, it is free to use! At 1 damage (Ranged), the "Snipe" ability does not really get maximised.

Now, let us have a look at the match!

As you can see, this match condition is actually brutally tough. Low mana with Noxious Fumes. Low mana matches have a tendency to see Low Mana monsters with Low Health. Preparing for this match, I was contemplating between my choices

  1. Many Low Mana Low Health monsters and aim for a wipeout within the first 2 turns
  2. Little High Mana High Health monster with "Heal" ability, and pray that it does not get wiped out

It was a risky approach, but I took the latter. I added a Furious Chicken as my first to absorb damage. In such matches, 1 extra damage may make a huge difference! Very unfortunately, Sea Monster was the one who took the limelight and was the main powerhouse for the match, and Pirate Captain played a pretty insignificant role I might have to say. The "Heal" ability by the Sea Monster as well as it's high attack wiped the enemy lines, with the Noxious Fumes as a catalyst to the process.

Well, a win is a win! Personally, I ain't much of a fan of this monster. Given a choice, I would prefer not to use this monster! The only reason why I used this is because of the mana for this match coincidentally matches. Otherwise, this might not be my preferred monster to use!
