I’m trying to join the trend but I don’t know why I need to buy a chaos pack. Is it a lucky draw thingy where I buy a pack and pray I get good cards?

Yeah, it's mostly a game of luck, I guess. But the more packs you get, the higher your chances of getting awesome cards. Getting the potions just increases your chances of getting awesome cards.
