Is It Worth Posting to SplinterTalk?
I've got a bit of a soft spot for the Splintertalk Platform which specialises in Splnterlands related content (with the occasional sports type guest-post when people get their tags confused) - and TBH there are some days were I actually enjoy reading and writing about Splinterlands more than I enjoy playing the game!
If you post to the platform, by using the SPT tag, you can earn SPT, the native token of the Splintertalk Platform, along with all your usual rewards by posting to Hive (Hive itself and whatever other crazy tags you've added on).
But would it be worth your while posting primarily to Splintertalk purely for the sake of earning SPT?!?
You can currently pick up SPT on Hive-Engine for around 0.001 Hive per SPT or approximately $0.0005 cents, rounding up on the current Hive price of around $.40.
This means the following SPT rewards would earn you the following amount of Hive and $$$ (assuming Hive at $0.50 for optimistic ease of calculation!):
- 500 SP = 0.25 Hive or $ 0.125, *50% = $0.0625
- 1000 SPT = 0.5 Hive or $0.25 *50% = $0.12
- 5000 SPT = 2.5 Hive or $1.25 *50% = $0.625
- 10 000 SPT = 5 Hive or $2.50 *50% = $1.25
Final rewards are halved because of the 50-50 split between content creators and curators, so ATW of writing that's
What can you expect to earn on Splintertalk?
Some posts do get rewarded with 10K SPT, this seems to be the maximum, judging by the definitive evidence: a screen shot I took of the Trending page earlier this morning:
Your ability to earn 10K SPT for a post depends almost entirely on whether you attract a vote from the massively SPT powered @monster-curator account, managed by @flauwy.
You're very unlikely to get a 10K SPT vote, only the major announcement and serious analytical posts get this kind of reward, which is fair enough - a weighty vote for serious posts and serious news.
It is possible to pick up a nice 5K ish @monster-curator vote - if you write a decent battle challenge post (for the Splinterlands Challenge of the Week) or a decent quality post about Splinterlands more generally or do a decent drawing for the weekly Splinterlands art contest, then you will land yourself a vote somewhere in the region of 3-6K SPT, which would being you in $0.50:
Other than @monster-curator there are a few larger accounts who peruse splintertalk from time to time and plop upvotes on decent posts. I do this myself every day, although I'm not a huge account, only 500K SPT, I can still earn around 40 SPT for 1 100% vote! It's worth doing for the curation return.
And of course you'll pick up SPT rewards based on whoever has you on autovote with their spt weight added on too.
I've experimented with posting a few 'medium level' posts - on interesting battle and strategy, through my @revise.spt account, but I seem limited to around the 2-500 SPT range.
Spam reward posts are irritating and REALLY not worth your time
Several people post their daily quest rewards, which TBH I find irritating......
I really wish people wouldn't do this, as their rewards are typically limited to around 10 SPT.... or $0.001 - probably not even worth the time it takes you to do a screenshot and make the post.
And YES, if I see a shitty spam post I will DV it to removed that reward.
It's a matter of principle.
It's all about the Upward Price Potential of SPT
As with Hive maybe you shouldn't look at your SPT earnings in terms of today's price, rather think about the future price potential, which I think is pretty good:
- 84% staking, so people mostly HODL.
- A 100 billion total supply, but if we consider the current relative price of LEO with a 1 Billion max supply, spt is cheaper, currently, 10 times cheaper in fact.
- Increasing use cases tied to Splinterlands, which seems Gold ATM!
So IF SPT can do a 10 times (and you hodl) then EVEN a post which earns 'only' 1000 SPT would be worth $1, and one which earns you 5K SPT would be worth $5.
The limiting factor is that I calculated that with 100 billion max supply and a rough print rate of 550 000 a day, SPT will go on being printed for the next 5000 years.
But then again I guess that kind of inflation could be mitigated by an increasing user base, all staking away!
Final Thoughts - Worth Posting to Splintertalk?
For me, when the content is appropriate, absolutely yes!
Especially for the weekly battle challenge, and for the occasional economics post I do featuring Splinterlands cards, certainly.
However, I don't think spamming daily rewards for <100 SPT is worth anyone's time, even if the token moons!
And of course it's not just about the price, I enjoy gassing about the game, it's easier to talk about than play some days, after all!
So it's worth posting, whether I'd invest in it with that FANTASTICAL 5000 YEAR PRINT DURATION is another matter! Then again, as with ALL the other Tribes on Hive, that can change on the whim of the person who created the token!

Inorder words SPT token growth is encouraging and good if giving it's a positive thought
I need to get back into my daily quests
And post to Splintertalk - worth another $1!
Noted you're doing FINE on POB btw, good to see, good move!
It’s a nice little corner of the chain where the authoritarians have little to no effect on me
Congratulations @revisesociology! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :
Your next payout target is 42000 HP.
The unit is Hive Power equivalent because your rewards can be split into HP and HBD
You can view your badges on your board and compare yourself to others in the Ranking

Check out the last post from @hivebuzz:
Yes, Anything that give point for SPS airdrop is worth.
Yes there is that!
I bought some SPT months ago and it's tanked quite badly since then. If I was interested in Spinterlands then maybe. Think Italian Lira a couple of decades ago.
I wonder who has been selling it? 85% of it is staked so it must be a very large stakeholder selling all their liquid rewards. There's only one of those!
BRRRRRRRRRRR.
Yeah it is solong it make adequate advantage
I have a feeling those people writing sports posts probably know exactly what they are doing. I bet they are tag farmers who are just trying to milk all of the reward pools for what they can. It happens in a lot of the communities. I haven't written anything about Splinterlands in a long time. The rewards have kind of fallen off and it is just something I do now versus something I enjoy. Maybe when lands come out I will get into it again.

I actually quite enjoy writing about Splinterlands. But I am a somewhat ponderous sort of fellow.
Maybe it is tag spam. i do myself with GEMS because I've heard the person who runs it is kind of precious.
Yeah, I think we all do it from time to time. I can justify pretty much all of the tags I use. Most of the abusers can not. I use GEMS even though I never get voted by them. They said my account was too big. I'm here thinking too big compared to what? I feel pretty small myself.

I look at the lengthy Print Rate as a positive. The longer it takes for all the SPT to be in circulation the better it is for maintaining and hopefully increasing the USD value of the current circulating supply. The more of something in active circulation the more likely its fiat value shrinks. One of the changes I would like to see to SPT is a cut back on the amount of SPT given out per upvoted topic. This would mean an even longer increase in years before the total supply is given out.
I too curate SPT topics. I'm one of the few SPT whales who don't delgate to @monster-curate. I only have about 400,000 staked but I do plan on adding another 100,000 to that in the upcoming weeks. My main goal is to reach 1 Million SPT, 50/50 stake liquid.
For me the decision to use the SPT tag is an easy one. Not because I'm a Monster Maniac (even though I am). Not because I think the game is awesome (I do think its awesome) not for the large array of other reasons I could list. The reason is simple and should apply to everyone. That reason is, "Why Not". One would be silly to not use the SPT tag while talking about Splinterlands on the Hive Network. Using the tag gives extra rewards on top of the ones we would already be earning. One could also potentially attract the Splinterlands (Steemmonsters) upvote account which holds allot of HIVE Power.
So would you like more of the reward pool to be used for other things like some other tribes do? I'd support that.
Good point about the Print rate, it doesn't strike me as too fast you know, the 85% stake rate kind of suggests that.
And I agree with you on the 'fan' thing - big fan myself!
I'm in favor of anything that brings utility or a usecase to the SPT token.
I have to admit, at first I was a bit offended by this post. It comes across a little elitist in my opinion.
But it is also good advice. I just started posting a daily Splinterlands post thinking, hey, it is what people do here. It is quick, easy, and like I said, I thought it was what was expected.
But it doesn't earn much and I'd probably be better off spending some time writing a good post for LeoFinance.
By Spam I mean people who literally take a screen shot of their rewards and post that.
Some of kind of commentary is fine, even if it's short!
Of course people are free to do as they please.
Ah... I see. Yeah, that would be junk. I'm not a down voter so I would probably just ignore it and let them have their 0.000001 cents. Hope the property is coming along! See you on the chain.
thank you for this post ... sooner or later I will see the social network platform called SplinterTalk too
