Levelling up to a Diamond League Earth Splinter

It may be crude, but I’ve decided I need one ‘monster’ Splinterlands splinter that can stand a chance in Diamond League, where the card limits are maxed.

I've decided to focus on the Earth Splinter, I quite like that Splinter - I always used to opt for elf like healing type characters when I was in my fantasy phase as a teenager.

I’m aware that this probably isn’t the optimal splinter – that’s almost certainly the Dragon Splinter or the Water splinter, but I like the Earth splinter and I’m closest to maxing out the summoner – if anyone ever buys my L7 Alpha Layana, I can buy a Level 8 Beta and have a few Steem left over, hence I’m already thinking about what cards to level up.

I'm going to focus on taking around 10 cards up to their 'best value levels' - some of the cards simply aren't worth maxing out, because you only gain 1 or2 extra health points for adding on an extra 50-100 cards for example.

The cards I’ve already levelled up….

There are certain cards I and everyone else uses all of the time, and these are the ones I’ve taken to their ‘’worth the cost" level. The cards below I've had at mid levels for ages, and have been able to sell other cards and use DEC to gradually get them up to levels that can cope with Diamond Leagues, well at least III and II.

Flesh Golem – to L7/10

Level 7 is where he gains magic reduction, any advance above L7 isn’t worth it financially ATM.

Wood Nymph – to L8/10

Level 8 is where she gains 2 magic – of course if anyone’s playing reflect, this might be a curse. Beyond L8 it's marginal gains again for silly amounts of cards.

Earth Elemental – to L6/8

Damage goes from 2 to 3 at L6, NB this is an expensive card!

Magi of the Forest – up to L5/ 6

Where his magic damage goes from 3 to 4, making him pretty awesome. Also expensive.

Mushroom Seer – up to L7/8

Really L6 is all you need, but I just seemed to have ended up with a lot of these as reward cards. It’s one of my favourite Splinterlands cards too.

I hardly ever use other cards - Brownie occasionally which is already up to L6 and the piercing spear guy, up to L5.

What to focus on next…?

I’ve levelled up most Beta and reward cards to the ‘reasonable cost’ max/ useful level limit, the level beyond which you have to pay silly money for marginal gains, so it’s time to focus on new Reward cards and Untamed….

Khmer Princess – defo worth taking to L4

2 mana for tank heal and triage, but you only get tank heal @ L4 and only the later at the max level. ATW there is a max level 8 card going for £29.99 – that’s a lot of money for a card, especially when you can only use max cards in the upper leagues, and I’m not there ATM!

Still, I think this is the most useful card to take to at least L4 in the earth deck

Failed summoner – worth taking to L6

L6 is where he picks up demoralise as well as reflect – a good candidate for the most annoying card in the deck. This could be a really useful tank in lower mana battles, maybe in the second row to attract snipe.

Swamp Thing – worth taking to L5?

I feel like I’ve missed out on Swamp Thing… 2 mana and 2 damage plus weaken/ slow, and I frequently have 2 mana left over on lower mana battles… not a priority but could be useful.

Other cards to take up the levels?

• Minatour Warlord – I can't remember who it was, but someone wrote a post recently raving about how undervalued the MW was, and I’m inclined to agree for high mana battles, but also quite pricy.

• Attica head hunter? I also think this guy is undervalued for 6 damage, with piercing at max level, it’s not a bad asset! However, it might not be worth it compared to the other piercing spear guy, need to do an analysis on that.

I would, of course, like some of the legendary cards, but they are just so expensive! I'm focussing on sensibly priced cards here!
