# The Splintergains report ~ Reached Gold II and SPS around the corner - Splinter Stats Season 52 Report Card
@riandeuk
Alright guys, few days after the season finished but didn't want to skip a report. Many things going on in the Splinterlands as usual and the biggest of all is probably the ban of the Twitter account. It's a dodgy affair and kind of exciting to see how it will play out, although it's annoying I think it means something very positive: Splinterlands matters enough that a big platform like Twitter cares about it. I'm pretty sure this is a minor set back that will eventually be a joke from the past. Two other things to mention shortly are the rental system revamp and the not-so-basic airdrop that could start any minute now:
- Rentals
Whenever I have the chance or someone asks me about starting out in Splinterlands I tell people to rent as a way of kick starting your journey. The only reason you wouldn't want to do it, is if you're gonna invest a lot into buying cards of the market. Renting some cards to get passed the initial power wall helps getting so much more rewards that it easily earns back the costs and then some. You could even use the in-game currency. Now the news is that the rental system is being updated and this should make things easier for both parties involved. More on this in the next report as the update is scheduled for next week if I'm not mistaken, but at the moment I'm really looking forward to that!
- SPS airdrop
There's a lot of info and details on this one but simply put: anyone holding any asset in the game, be it cards, land, dec (the currency) or even the tribe tokens earned for blogging about Splinterland will be getting SPS governance tokens starting somewhere this month. Starting you say? Yes, this isn't a one time airdrop, not a week or a month. The airdrop will go on for an entire year! That's right one whole year, meaning anyone just starting out (and I somewhat feel that way myself, only been a few months..) will have the chance to increase their assets and earn SPS over the coming year.
Enough news coverage! Let us dive into the numbers, short evaluation of the gameplay this last season and then looking at the monetary progress and season results:

Quite a bump up in ratio, 1.6 don't think I've hit that before. Finally used the trick legendarycannary gave me of renting a legendary gold foil for one day only at the end of season. It cost me a few cents only but gave me more chests for the season reward and on the last daily quest. I think that is a great strategy and also makes sure your not set back as much for the new season.

Flesh golem almost beat that damn chicken this time :-P I wonder if the chicken will ever not be in top spot. For anyone who doesn't know: the chicken is a 0 mana card and is a great damage sponge or bait card if you will. Even though I sometimes make a mistake and forget to include it it's always the most used.

Only 2 tournaments, and it seems I only played of of those. But I think I did reasonably well. It's a training tournament for which every participant gets some NFT's in their WAX wallet. Pretty cool although the NFT's are collectible only and not actual playable cards.

Now the real deal, the money talk, can we seem some good progress again? Probably no crazy jump in value like last time. The set going out of print made everything go up in value but we won't see something like that this time. But what do we have?
No legendary or gold cards.. Ok, it happens but it's kind of disappointing. The total rewards in dec value are more or less the same as last time though: 5520 (versus 5688 last time) so that's kind of steady although I had way better seasons. Seems like the dec values are way higher since the packs aren't in the reward pool anymore. Which is great as they're the best to hold for the coming airdrop.
Now let's take a look at the season-on-season progress in terms of dollar value of collection and the total power.
Collection progress since last season
As I mentioned, since the set was already out of print and the rewards were kind of mediocre for me this season I wasn't expecting much progress here. But it seems I gained about 2k in power yet again and a whopping +- 20 dollar in value which is about a 33% increase in value. Now I gotta say since I'm doing the report a bit late there's some rewards from the running season in there and I had some luck. My thoughts are the prices jumped but are still climbing after the selling out of the packs. It's also great to see the market of Splinterlands is hardly influenced by the crypto volatility in general.
Peakmonsters value+power progression (Reversed chronological order):
$ 79.18 using Market Prices // 13,410 DEC
$ 60.42 using Market Prices // 11,880 DEC
$ 34.60 using Market Prices // 9,100 DEC
$ 28.53 using Market Prices // 7,230 DEC
$ 21.32 using Market Prices // 5,320 DEC
Kind of similar to my last report: some mediocre rewards apart from more dec and one epic card but overall progress is still steady and the deck is rising in value each season. Quite happy with those stats and can't wait to tell you about my recent drop in the next report.
Thinking back about when I started playing, about 4 months ago, with just 12 dollars to buy the spellbook and one untamed pack I think I'm even more than happy. At the time I had no idea how long it would take the earn the initial investment back but right now I think it was a no brainer and am very happy I found the game and took the time to learn how to play it.
So how did your season go? Did your luck fail you too or did you pull some nice rewards? Love to hear from you leave a comment below and see you for the next one!
For anyone who's only now hearing about the game and wanting to try it out this will take you to the main page.

Slow and steady wins the race. I finished in Gold last season. I'm aiming for diamond this season. The SPS airdrop sure is an interesting one. It'll be fun to see if players run to the market to sell them or to purchase them.
!BEER
Sure does, one day I'll be in diamond too. Yeah, think I'll be keeping them for now. Also not sure if I should just keep buying new cards and increase my deck and thus league and rewards. Might be more effective than only sitting on a rather small amount of dec..
Thanks for the upvote!
