Introduction

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

This will be my first entry for this week's Battle Mage Secrets with the featured ruleset Odd Ones Out. This is a ruleset where only units with odd mana costs may be used in battles.

The first Battle that I will show to you for this week was from @crimepoet which is an alternate account that I am using and was able to finish last season in Diamond 1 of the modern league.

There are no special tricks for this ruleset, but having an idea of mana points of a few monsters helps in predicting what your opponent can and cannot use. But when selecting a team, there will be times that due to monsters having odd mana cost the monsters we can place in the monster slots became limited and on times like this 1- mana cards could be serve to fill this empty slots.

This battle comes with a 46 mana cap where the active rulesets are Aim True, Going the Distance and the featured ruleset for this week which was Noxious Fumes. With this in consideration, my lineup was consist of:

Summoner: Quix the Devious - A Dragon Summoner that reduces the speed and range attack of all opponent units by -1 and allows the use of Dragon units together with an element of choice.

  • 1st Position: Desert Dragon - A 7- mana melee unit with Trample that allows it to attack once again when it defeats an opponent together with Retaliate which gives it a chance to attack when attacked by a melee unit and Piercing to inflict the excess damage from the armor towards the opponent's health. It also has Giant Killer which allows it to inflict twice the damage on enemies with 10 or more mana.

  • 2nd Position: Oshuur Constantia - An 7- mana magic unit that provides Tank Heal to sustain the health of the tank unit as well as Resurrect that allows it to revive an ally once. It also has Reflection Shield that makes it immune from reflected and blast damage.

  • 3th Position: Adelade Brightwing - a 7-mana magic unit with Repair to restore the armor of an ally unit while with Immunity, it was immune on negative debuffs and with Resurrect it can revive an ally unit that was defeated with battle. It also has Swiftness which increases the speed of all ally unit and Flying that gives it 25% evasion chance.

  • 4th Position: War Pegasus- A 7- mana rage unit which has Flying together with Shatter which removes all the armor of the target and Demoralize which reduces the melee damage of all opponent units.

  • 5th Position: Iziar- A 11- mana magic unit which forces all abled attack to target this card with Taunt and got Void which reduces the damage it receives from magic attacks while it can also increase the stats of units that was adjacent to it when it was defeated with Martyr.

Battle Recap

Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at Splinterlands.

Did My Strategy Work?

On this battle, the opponent comes up with a really good strategy that uses a combination of Chaos Legion and Rebellion cards which makes it a very solid lineup and has a very high chance of defeating me if not do I have a card with Giant Killer. The absence or presence of this card has highly affects the outcome of the battle against the opponent that uses odd cards with more than 10 mana.

That was it for this post. Thank you and see you at the next one.
