Introduction

Hi! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

This is the second part of my review about the upcoming Riftwatchers summoners which we can play a week from now. They are a 43- card extension to the Chaos Legion that includes, 13 common, 12 rare, 6 epic (summoners) and 12 legendary cards. Each packs will be sold at $ 5.00 USD worth of SPS and 1 voucher. The presale has become a huge success, selling out the presale packs with just a minute, resuming with the general sale. As krill as I am, I was able to buy 11 packs during the presale and hopefully, will plan to buy more packs until they are available within the Splinterlands Shop or when they are sold cheap at the secondary market.

The first part of my review talks about the summoners Skargo, Iltain and Fernheart from the Fire, Life and Earth Element and even with me just talking of the Modern cards that I anticipate to synchronize with these summoners, they still take very long so I decided to make a part 2 for the rest of the summoners.

Now, let's take a look at each one of them, together with the existing cards that will go along with them within the Modern Format and within the limitations of the league I'm playing for which is in Gold league as this will probably affects the meta as well as the market price for each of these cards.

Dallan

Dallan.png

Summoner Name: Dallan

Edition: Riftwatchers

Rarity: Epic

Element: Death
Effects: Cripple ability_cripple.png

Dallan is a Riftwatchers Epic Death Summoner that gives Cripple ability. This ability causes the opponent monster to lose 1 max health, every time it was hit by the ability. You could say that this is the opposite effect from the Life Leech ability. Among all the summoners, this one has the lowest reception because Cripple has a bug that it can be Cleanse which is not supposed to be. This can be a good counter for cards that have Heal or receiving heals from someone with Tank Heal and Triage because the amount of max health that they can heal becomes lower and lower which makes it easier to defeat the monster.

Card Watch List

If this bug can be fixed, you can say that all the modern death and neutral monsters that do not have the Cripple ability will benefit from this card but here are some that I think will benefit the most from this summoner.

PromoDoctor Blight_lv3_small.png
RewardsVenari Bonesmith_lv6_small.pngAncient Lich_lv3_small.pngUraeus_lv5_small.png
Chaos LegionLife Sapper_lv6_small.png

  • Doctor Blight has the Affliction and Poison ability which prevents monsters from healing and deals -2 poison damage every end of the turn so adding Cripple means more trouble to the opponent and with the Camouflage, it can stay off the radar from any direct attack as long as its not on the first position. it will also gain 1 max health every time a monsters got defeated because of it's Scavenger ability.

  • Uraeus with the Sneak also poses a big problem to the opponent as it has the Poison ability and if the opponent do not have Triage, then his backline monsters can just die one by one but even if it has, when Cripple gets added, then the amount of health it can heal will be lower and lower.

  • Venari Bonesmith, Life Sapper and Ancient Lich all have the Life Leech which allows them to gain health in proportion to the damage that they dealt. Venari Bonesmith has the Poison which also allows it to deal -2 poison damage every end of the round while Ancient Lich has the Void ability which halve all magic damage.

The card that would likely fall in card value will be Cthulhu as it already has the Cripple at level 1. Dark Ferryman and Silent Sha-vi also has the ability at level 6 but you can just have a lower below without the ability and they still have the same stats.

Aquatus

water.png

Summoner Name: Aquatus

Edition: Riftwatchers

Rarity: Epic

Element: Water
Effects: Backfire ability_backfire.png

Aquatus is a Riftwatchers Epic Water Summoner with the Backfire ability. With this ability, when a monster attacks and misses it's target, it will get 2 damage in return. It's an amazing ability but this depends on RNG and will not activate all the time. The key here is that you have a very fast team because they are more likely to dodge the opponent the more the gap with their speed. This can be a good counter with any kind of team on the speed perspective alone since under most cases, you get the attack priority the faster you are and that means dealing the damage first and possibly, taking down opponent monsters first.

Card Watch List

The cards that I will be looking at are Water and Neutral cards that have more than 5 Speed and those with 4 speed but have Blind that gives +15% chance of evasion, Dodge and Flying as they add 25% dodge chance each.

Chaos LegionFlying Squid_lv8_small.pngDiemonshark_lv6_small.pngSupply Runner_lv8_smakk.pngGem Meteor_lv5_small.png

  • Pelacor Bandit has 6 speed and with Flying, it gets 25% dodge chance. This is usually placed at the last position as a anti- sneak Sneak monster.

  • Djinn Oshannus has 5 speed and with Phase ability, it can dodge magic attacks and whenever an attack gets through, it will be halve with void and attacks which is more than 5 will turn to 1 with the Forcefield ability.

  • Kelp Initiate and Almo Cambio are non- attack monster with both having 6 speed. Kelp Initiate with the Cleanse has the ability to remove all negative status effects to the opponent in the first position while Almo Cambio has Immunity makes it invulnerable to negative status effects, has Phase allows it to be able to dodge magic attacks and in case it was hit by a range attack, it has Return Fire which returns half the damage back to the attacker.

  • Serpent of Eld has 5 speed and with Dodge ability, it has 25% chance to dodge an attack and the Return Fire will return damage back to the range attacker.

  • Ice Pixie and Tower Griffin both have 4 speed and has the Flying ability which lets them to have 25% dodge chance. Ice Pixie has the Shatter which removes the armor of the opponent it attacks while Tower Griffin provides armor to all ally monsters as long as it remains in play with the Protect ability.

  • Phantom of the Abyss has 6 speed and has both Flying and Dodge which gives it 50% dodge chance. The Demoralize ability reduces melee damage by -1.

  • Flying Squid has 5 speed and has Blind ability which gives 15% miss chance to all opponent cards as long as it remains in play. It is a melee card that can attack at the 2nd position because of its Reach ability.

  • Diemonshark has 4 speed but with the Enrage ability, its speed and melee will increase by 1.5x and with Trample, it has the chance to attack again when it defeats a monster.

  • Supply Runner and Gem Meteor are both neutral range cards with 5 speed. Supply Runner has Swiftness will add +1 speed to all ally monsters as long as it remains in play while Gem Meteor has the Scattershot which allows it to throw range damage randomly and with Piercing any excess damage from the armor goes the opponent's health.

Unless it is a Reverse Speed ruleset, you might think twice before using slow monsters for Aquatus because they are less likely to perform successful Backfire with this summoner.

Sthispha

Sthispa.png

Summoner Name: Sthispha

Edition: Riftwatchers

Rarity: Epic

Element: Dragon
Effects: Phase ability_phase.png

Sthispa is a Riftwatchers Epic Dragon Summoner with the Phase ability. This ability makes monsters to have the ability to dodge magic attacks with the same hit/miss calculation to melee and range monsters. Again, this is an ability that does not work every time and the key for it to work is that monsters have excellent speed that they can use. Since this is a Dragon Summoner, you can partner it with other elements and is the most flexible summoner among this group.

Card Watch List

With Sthispa being a Dragon summoner allows you to use other elements to form your line- up so there are lots of promising combination that you can make surrounding this summoner. That said, I will only prioritize on the Dragon and neutral cards.

RewardsNaga Assassin_lv6_small.pngDjinn Chwala_lv5_small.png
UntamedDragon Jumper_lv3_small.pngDiamond Dragon_lv3_small.pngTower Griffin_lv6_small.png
Chaos LegionChaos Dragon_lv3_small.pngSupply Runner_lv8_smakk.pngGem Meteor_lv5_small.png

  • Naga Assassin has 6 speed and with Backfire, matched with Phase, it can now return magic damage back to the attacker.

  • Djinn Chwala only has 3 speed but it has Enrage which will boost its melee and speed by 1.5x.

  • Dragon Jumper has 5 speed and it also has Flying which adds 25% dodge chance. It can attack opponent with the least life with Opportunity and possibly Stun and Snare them to disabled the opponent from attacking for a round and to remove their Flying.

  • Diamond Dragon has only 3 Speed but has the Flying ability which gives it 25% dodge chance and Slow which decrease the speed of all opponent monster by -1 and with Last Stand, it will have x1.5 stat boost if its the last monster and can also do Cleanse to remove negative status effects to the first position monster.

  • Tower Griffin have 4 speed and has the Flying ability which lets them to have 25% dodge chance and provides armor to all ally monsters as long as it remains in play with the Protect ability.

  • Chaos Dragon only has 3 speed but it has the Blind which gives +15% Evasion chance and Flying ability will add another 25% dodge chance to it. With the Scattershot, it can attack a random opponent and deal half of its damage to the monster adjacent to the one that it attack with the Blast ability.

Like with Aquatus, unless it is a Reverse Speed ruleset, any slow monsters will less likely to perform successful Phase with Sthispa.

And that's it for the Second part of my review for Riftwatchers summoners and the potential cards that can synchronize with them. There might be other cards that I miss or you just don't agree that it will work out as I imagined to because the only way to prove my ideas is to put them on actual play when it was released. So if you have any suggestions, then feel free to write down in the comments section.
