Back To Splinterlands -Building My Team to Level 2 Summoners

I continue to build out and fill in a team as needed. I am trying to get most cards that I can afford in gold foil, or some of the missing legendaries. It's a slow grind especially considering lately I have been buying packs without much luck versus buying the cards I need. I really should just commit to buying $10 worth of cards I need this week and I'll be better off than buying two to three packs and continuing my bad luck.

With the recent reward changes, I have seen a significant drop in my SPS earnings per match, which will only continue to slow my growth as the play to earn becomes smaller and smaller.

I'm looking forward to rift watchers, to see what cards are released and to see which ones I will Target first to give me an edge. Whenever there is a new release of cards it feels like there is a whole bunch of trial and error to see which cards are really needed and which cards are the most beneficial going to race to get those cards. I don't plan on buying any packs, I think I will just buy the individual cards I need to start.

Weekly Challenge - LIFE SAPPER

Edition: CHOAS LEGION
Rarity: RARE
Element: DEATH
Attack: MAGIC
Abilities: LIFE LEECH
Health: 2
Speed: 2
Attack: 1

Reasons Why I like it

Life Sapper is a pretty good card, and I use it quite a bit, although I do use its sister card Venari Bonesmith a bit more given it's starting health and speeder one higher.

I like using Life saver in matches where I think the life leadsability will have an opportunity to really add up to its baseline health. Having a card that continues to add health towards the backyard lineup, that can still attack from first position can be really difficult to find the eliminate. If it comes down to the final monster too and it is taking two damage, but healing back one through likely to each round is a really slow grind.

In my opinion the perfect match for any magic life-leach card would be a rule set that includes both snipe and splash. You could potentially be adding up to three health each round!

The biggest risk to using life Sapper is if the opponent's monster has void to where you add no additional health and you do no damage.

The Matchup

MANA: 20
RULES: Silenced Summoners: Summoners do not give any sat buffs or debuffs or grant/use any abilities
RULES: Heavy Hitters: All monsters have the Knock Out ability
SPLINTERS: Water, Earth, Life, Death, Dragon

Thoughts of rules set
With only 20 mana a match of silenced summoners and heavy hitters is interesting. Heavy hitters doesn't really have much of an impact for me because the only stunt card I think I own is in death. It's unlikely that either of us will have mini cards that you've done so I think it is likely that the heavy hitters aspect will not play into the match.

Silent summoner on the other hand will have more of an impact since our cards will not start with a buff, and that means that I don't necessarily need to play a debuff to try to take away their advantages. Many of the melee cards just won't have the same impact without the additional damage, and the water team just isn't as good without the additional speed and shield. I think the best lineups are either going to be deaf or dragon.

  • First position Cursed Windeku
It's hard for me not to play The cursed windeku here. It's combination of thorns plus decent house just always draws me to put it in first position, even when I shouldn't.

  • Second Position Silent Sha-Vi
Another one of my favorite cards to play high speed plus three melee and five health just make it an overall great card considering the level I am playing.

  • Third Position Life Sapper
Lightsaber here feels like a pretty safe play that might have a chance to build some additional health. Trying to bury the middle line up so it has 45 rounds if needed to build up its health before it hits to the front.

  • Fourth Position Battering Ram
I like the battering ram, and I feel pretty safe that it's first attack won't be against something with thorns, unless they're playing mylor. More than likely I can get a couple of attacks out of it before it's taken out. I also put it as the back to help protect against a double sneak attack to protect the life sapper as long as possible

  • Fifth position Corpse Fiend
Everyone's favorite zero Man a legendary card for the death, putting it back here to just take away someone's turn and protect my cards. I love these zero mana legendaries so much.

Opponent Lineup & Match Play

  • Hill Giant - it's a great card to play here it's high health and decent melee just make it a real pain to get through.

  • Sporcerer- looks like they really we're going after the magic attack. Not sure if they didn't notice the silent summoners, but I guess it also did rust away any armor I would have.

  • Queen Mycelia - it's another really good card to have considering that it has the protect to add a couple armor. This will allow their monsters to stick around longer considering most of them have pretty low health

  • Djinn Biljka -another strong play especially at a level 2 where it has both camouflage and void. This will make it much harder for magic to knock it out considering there are no boosts and it can't be attacked until the very end

Round 1

image.png

Round one looks like it'll be a pretty even match, but I will have a massive advantage on the speed side of things. Every one of my monsters will attack with the exception of the corpse fiend before any enemy monsters attack. I believe this is pretty significant and will really increase my chances for winning.

After all of my attacks that Hill giant is down to six health and I've taken away the armor and one health from Queen mycilla. Is a table's turn and they start unleashing all of their attacks, cursed when Dick you drops all the way from 10 down to three health, but the good news is I do manage to deal two Thorn damage back to Giant Hill dropping it down to four for the start of the next round. Things are looking okay, but the high magic damage does have me a little concerned

Round 2

image.png

Round two starts off in the same way, speed kills and when you can get form of your monsters to attack before they get a single turn you can really change the tide. My first attack knocks out Queen micilla, then knock out the giant Hill with the remaining of my turns. This leaves them only two monsters dealing a total of four magic damage, and no more armor to protect them from my melee attacks. Cuz the round continues they do knock out my cursed when Dick you, but my silent child will have five health and will last at least two more rounds.

Round 3

image.png

Things are looking pretty good for me, especially considering eye attacked first and will knock out sportser before it gets it turned to attack leaving it only one monster and all but guaranteeing my win. By the end of this round life sapper will have five health. The only downside is it will no longer accumulate health or do damage due to the void ability of the final monster.

Round 4

image.png

Void doesn't have any impact because silent Shaw and battering ram will take it out before life sapper even has a turn. Given the fact that it has no flying or Dodge and silent Shaw has a higher speed rating, it's guaranteed hit and knock out locking in another win.

thoughts

Overall I'm pretty happy with the way my lineup performed, and I think that life cyber did really well to add five health before the match is over. If it had gotten to lifesaver going to first position it would have lasted a couple of extra rounds to allow battering ram to Target an enemy and try to take it out quick. I think that's the real benefit to life sapper or anything with life leech is to build up a monster that has a high health, that has potential to continue to add health or recover lost health due to an attack and become a real pain in a tank position late in a match.
The other conclusion I have is a clearly need to get this card in the gold foil version because there's no reason not to. It's not that costly to grab and I think I would like to have the option of playing a gold foil version next time to increase my earnings.
