SHARE YOUR BATTLE URIEL THE PURIFIER (1).jpg

Back To Splinterlands -Building My Team to Level 2 Summoners

After selling out early February 2021, I am starting to play again and rebuild my team. Much has changed int he past year, and we have moved onto a new set of cards. Many of these cards are great, but I miss some of the classic Beta and old reward cards. My Goal is leaning towards getting as many cards in 1 BCX GF as I can, but this will be a slow goal. I will get all the epics and legendary in normal that I can as I try to get common and rare cards I use often in GF first. It will be a long road, but it makes sense to me most of the time to buy 1 bcx and not combine it vs trying to buy 14 cards and combine to a level 2.

Getting Lucky in the Airdrops!! .3333% Payed Off

I sadly only bought 15 packs so far, but managed to score this in the airdrops. I did not get anything for the first one. Since I just got it, I figured I needed to try it out.

Weekly Challenge - URIEL THE PURIFIER

Edition: CHAOS LeGION
Rarity: LEGENDARY
Element: LIFE
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: FLYING RECHARGE
Armor 6
Health: 10
Speed: 3
Attack: 2

First Impressions
Not exactly sure - honestly given its mana and its stats, I feel like it will be hard to find a good use case. While it does have 10 health, it does nothing to combat the high magic attacks from Earth. Really with it had void! It most obvious use will be earth quake and super high mana matches. While its 9 Melee is going to be crazy, it does have to actually hit. My concern is if playing against water, it will be slower and could falll to missing something like Serpent of the Eld when it finally does get to attack. If it does hit... it will clear a lot of armor or health, even if the monster has shield. Could be helpful against some of the Thorn tanks. I see it alot for Melee only, or Melee attack from anywhere type mathces.

The Matchup

MANA: 24
RULES: Explosive: All Monsters have Blast ability
RULES Broken Arrows: Ranged Attack Monsters May Not Be Used
SPLINTERS: Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death, Dragon

  • **First position Uriel The Purifier **
Had to put it here, it is a tank of tanks. 6 armor and 10 health. I did take a gamble as I assumed it was going to either be a Water for speed and oppertunity with blast, or Earth for heavy Magic I was pretty worried overall. If it lasted to the 2nd round I was hoping it would do enough to take out the opponents tank and 2nd line if possible.

  • **Second Position Cave Slug **
Since I am taking the risk in the first position I wanted to hopefully hit some middle of the line up stuff and get splash in both directions if possible That way I can do -2, -3, -2 and knock off armor or health wherever I can.

  • Third Position Stich Leech
I really like Stick Leech for Life, its a good sneak with low mana and 2 melee to boot at 1 bcx. While speed and health are issues, its pretty good for 3 mana! again, I was hoping to hit the weak part of the line up by sneaking

  • Fourth Position Celestial Harpy
Same though as cave slug, but its faster and has flying. If it get taken out, its my weakest card, but that flying can be tricky to hit at times. While it does 1 damage, it will still blast, enough to take a health or finish off some armor

Opponent Lineup & Match Play

The did not go Earth and Magic. While a little surprised that blast damage can make it hard to protect those low health cards. They went with my 2nd assumption, water. Armor and speed may give me issues for sure. Lets take a look at the lineup.

  • First Demon Shark
I was going to guess they played the Serpent of Eld, but given the Demon Shark higher armor I guess its a coin flip. Still super fast and well protected with higher health. I loses dodge and 1 melee. Overall I think either are great choices, but I am glad to see this one.

  • Second Cruel Sethropod
Not sure what the plan was, for 3 mana, I think I would have picked another attacker, or at shield repair, or something, this one I don't quite follow the logic.

  • Third: River Nymph
Classic, Magic plus cleanse. The blast will always do damage and it will help keep the tank nice and healthy from effects. Decent choice for 4 mana.

  • Fourth Merdaali Guardian
So - I understand and like it, but given the other two choices in the 2nd and 3rd, they really could not afford to skip doing damage. I think they would have been better replacing 2nd and 3rd position with Deeplurker.

  • Fifth Ice Pixie
In every lineup it feels like, fast, flying, with magic. Its a great card, hard to hit, and always does 1 magic hit. Love it in the rear.

Round 1

We know how the game is played... speed, attack type... rarity, level, and then GF... Lets see who gets to dish out the attacks first.

Not surprising to see the water team hit first, the speed boost will push them to attach fast and hard. Demon Shark starts off by dropping the Purifiers shield down 2, leaving it with 4 and dealing one blast damage to Cave slug(4 Health) Ice Pixie gets to go next, dropping both the Purifier and Cave slug down another health. Followed by River Nymph doing the same, I am starting to get really worried about having cards to attack at all in 2nd round.

Its finally my turn with Celestial Harpy attacking Ice Pixie, the fact they both have flying is the reason I had a chance to hit. I do and remove the armor from both Ice Pixie and Merdaali leaving them susceptible. Cave slug goes next, and I got lucky with a hit to Ice Pixe. Give the speed difference and flying, I was just as likely to miss on that attack. It knocks out Ice Pixie and deals two damage to Merdaali. To complete my perfect first round, Stich Leech also attacks and hits the Merdaali Guidian and knocks it out. the splash damage takes out the armor from River Nymph.

Round 2 - First Attack for the Purifier

image.png

As the round starts, Uriel the Purifier gets recharged and has the ability to attack this round. We will see what happens if it is still around when it gets a shot. Attacks will follow the same order for the cards still in play. Demon Shark eats another 2 armor and knocks my my cave slug health down to 2. I forgot how important speed is when playing a Blast game, and am getting worried. River Nymph takes its turn, and drops the health of both Uriel and Cave Slug. Uriel the Purifier is down to7 and Cave slug only 1.

Boom

image.png

Uriel the Purifier hits. takes away all 7 shield left, that is massive not to mention the 4 blast it does... taking all armor from Cruel Sethropod. Overall that attack took 11 armor away from the enemy. Celestial Harpy keeps hitting and this time it took 1 health from both River Nymph and Sethropod. Cave slug attacks, but this time its a miss on the River Nymph, then Stich also misses that pecky River Nymph, I didn't get the knock our in round 2 that I was hoping for.

Round 3 The end is near

image.png

Cards are about to start falling and quick. Demon Shark leads off, taking my last 2 armor from Uriel the Purifier, and the blast knocks out cave slug. River Nymph damanges both Uriel and Stick Leech by 1, and it becomes my turn. While the Purifier is recharging this round, I will count on my others to carry the load. Celestial Harpy hits yet again, and drops River Nymph to its last health, and impacting Sethropod by 1. Stick Leech misses yet again to close out round 3

The End - How did it go?

image.png

Demon Shark attacks, and drops Uriel down to 5, and the blast takes Stich Leech down to 2. Too bad river nymph is going next and in doing so, takes Purifier down to 4 and knocking Stick Leech to 1. Clearly, it all comes down the the next move, If I miss, I lose, if I hit, I win. Simple as that... it all comes down the chance at this point. Uriel the Purifier manages to hit (80%) likely to hit, knocking out Demon Shark and Sethropod. River Nymph moves to first position and is knocked out by Stich leech after Celestial Harpy misses.

Thoughts

I won my first match and it was fun to see 9 damange. I would love to play it in a enraged match, 3 should go to 5, then tripple would be 15 if it hit. Would be a run time to see hit numbers that large, no matter your league. I think I could have easily lost this match if I had miss vs hit, or if they had played magic I might not have done well either.

In this case I did win, and I will look for new ideas to use again in battle and see where it fits best, I have a few ideas, but it is fun to try it in different game types and setting. I think it will give me a chance in a lot of match ups, but not the clear impact card that some other legendary. I am stoked I got so lucky on the air drop, and with the general sale starting in a few days, I am sure the card market will get be interesting the next few months.
