Introduction

Hi everybody,

My name is @shawnnft and I'm here to share my social media challenge blog post for the Social Media Challenge. For this challenge, I wanted to review Runi which is considered a promo card for the chaos legion set. It's a legendary rarity, 6 mana melee monster that has opportunity, rebirth, true aim and reflection shield at max level.

I have been playing this card on my scholar account bltzr-wizard-727 for a few months now. I've won a lot of games because of Runi and I think it's one of those really underrated cards. Unfortunately, it is quite expensive for the normal gamer; it's sitting around 0.17eth floor which is around $260 USD. I wish I had the money to own this as Yabamatt had many ideas for giving value to Runi besides being a card in game. Luckily, I have a friend @Aruchard who delegated a Runi to my scholar account which I really appreciate.

Where To Buy Runi

Currently, the only way to buy Runi is through OpenSea and you can find the link to buy it here. You will need ETH and be on the ETH network to buy it. I wouldn't advise buying from other websites or buying from others players as it could be dangerous. There's many scams out in the crypto world so be safe and when things seem too good to be true, it usually is.

Sadly, there is no way to rent this card yet unless you do P2P. I feel this is ok if it's from a trusted person and there's no reason to really cheat someone from delegating you a Runi since it will cost them gas fees. The team has said they do plan on having it in the future but who knows when.

Why I'm Bullish On Runi

I'm super bullish on Runi even though I don't own one. I do plan on buying one on the future if I'm able to make a lot of money from my extra cards that I don't want after they appreciate in value.

First of all, there's only a 3521 supply currently. It's already in the roadmap that there will be a combining and burning of Runis in quarter 2 which will decrease the supply even more. If Splinterlands, delivers on the road map this year, I feel there's a lot of potential for people to flood the ecosystem. The flood of players coming in will help the economy as the current people are mostly extracting from the economy which is hurting the price of cards and tokens.

Basically, the demand will come and if people want Runi, it will raise the price astronomically. There's also many other future utilities that haven't even been given yet that will most likely bump Runi price even more. With the team, more focused than ever this could be one of the best investments in the Splinterlands ecosystem.

Ideal Scenarios For Using Runi

The first use case for Runi is in the briar patch ruleset. The briar patch gives all monsters thorns so melee will take damage after attacking. Runi has reflection shield so he doesn't take thorns damage. This can be super good because Runi has opportunity which can hunt down low health magic and ranged monsters that the opponent will likely play since they wouldn't want to play melee monsters in this ruleset. I would prioritize choosing the water element if t's available because water also has Tide Bider which is another melee monster with reflection shield. If you can't use water than any other element is fair game.

A second use case for Runi is the explosive weaponry ruleset. This ruleset gives all monsters blast. Usually in this ruleset you can play a taunt monster in the back with Runi infront of it so it can defend against the blast damage. In the second position, you can play Venator Kinjo in the second position to block the blast damage from the front. This will give quite a strong coverage of the blast damage and you could win games because of this strategy. Since most players, don't have Runi they might not expect this strategy.

A third scenario for using Runi is the reverse speed ruleset. Runi having one speed is a god in reverse speed as it's pretty much guaranteed to attack first and with opportunity it will clear low health targets right at the beginning of the battle. In this situation, I'd recommend playing it with Grum as Grum is pretty good in reverse speed or with earth element since earth element has a lot of slow creatures.

A fourth scenario is the even stevens ruleset. This ruleset doesn't allow you to use odd mana cards. This limits a lot of the possible cards to be used and this is where Runi can come in. You can play this with the water element and have a double opportunity strike on low mana monsters with the Deeplurker and Runi combination.

A final scenario Runi is good at is fog of war. Since sneak and snipe is not available, it's hard to kill annoying backline support monsters or glass cannon damage monsters. This is where Runi comes in as it allows you to have an extra opportunity monster to take out those annoying monsters.

As you can see there's so many use cases for Runi. I feel it has many use cases since it's a neutral card which makes it easy accessible to combine with any of the elements. This card is a total sleeper and super undervalued in my opinion even though it's still quite expensive for the average gamer. This is not financial advice but if you have the money and you enjoy the game and want to be competitive, this is a must have card.
