Introduction

There didn't seem to be much in this town hall. To me it seemed like the calm before the storm. Anyways I will cover some of the main topics from the town hall. I also want to share my Splinterlands journey and I hope that this inspires others to start their journey today.

Splinterland Battle Bots

In summary for this, Splinterlands introduced novice bots in novice league and bronze players won't match against novice players anymore. I kind of have mixed feelings about this. By doing this, the team is showing a strong stance that they are ok with bots and I know that they have said this many times before but this is just proof that backs up what they have been saying.

I think what needs to be done is an improvement on the tutorial system as well as more of an explanation on hive keychain and blockchain as that is much needed if we want to onboard new players. There's many new things that a typical web2 gamer would need to learn on top of just learning to play Splinterlands. I really think Splinterlands team should create a mode where everyone can have ghost cards and have no earnings. This actually gives the opportunity for people to play and try out the game better without spending anything on cards or rentals yet. It can be also a good metric to see how "fun" the game is because if the game is fun they will either convert to investing into cards and rentals and we can also see how many games are being played in this mode. People won't mind spending money on a game that is fun and we can see that from any popular game out there. Like even I spent money on skins in League of Legends.

At the moment, I feel there is just too many people in Splinterlands just to make money and if that's the main motive, the whole game will come crashing once everyone starts cashing out. I'm not sure about you but I always hear the words profit or 10x 20x a lot more than I hear about "damn this game is fun to play".

Tournament Approval & UI Improvements

I don't have much comments on this. I don't play in tournaments. I'm glad that they are improving the UI. The reason I don't play in tournaments is because of how prevalent bots are in these tourneys. They have the almost perfect lineups and it's just not fun that way. I'm ok with bots in the game but let's leave them out of tournaments and brawls; I feel this is a good compromise if we're not going to ban bots from all play.

Secrets of Praetoria

This seems interesting. They have a 20 page white paper on land that they want to push out by the 20th. This is what everyone has been waiting for. I assume it's going to cover everything from land and we might see some crazy spikes once people read it because they will start getting the stuff they need to be prepared. The team already warned that there won't be enough resources and it will be a push and shove moment. I'm pretty excited for this docs to release and I will probably cover the whole docs in a post next week.

My Journey On Splinterlands

I started Splinterlands in December 2021 by buying an account using paypal for like 10 bucks. This was with the old rewards system. I didn't find the game that interesting at the time but I just did my daily 5 wins and I hoped I got a legendary from the bronze chests. I think I only started to take Splinterlands seriously after my Bltzr Scholarship which was around May 2022.

I found the game to be more fun if you own the cards to play so I started to rent and own some cards. I've probably put about 1k USD into the game by buying cards etc from my own pocket and now I have around 3.3k USD in value as can see from the picture below. If we add up the dec I contributed to my guild too that would be another 700k dec worth of value as well. I have put my blog earnings and scholarship earnings back into the game as well. At first I wanted to own a max deck and goldfoil deck as well but it seems too expensive for me at the moment.

I guess my current goal now is to keep collecting cards and hopign they appreciate in value as well as increasing my hive power so I can have higher vote value. I'm aiming for 1500 hive power by the end of the year and maybe 40k sps by the end of the year. Let's see if I can do it. I found it cool that I got $30 dollars worth of glx by just staking and holding SPS. For those that are starting out, I do encourage blogging as well by doing the Splinterland challenges and then branching to other communities. I only started blogging around November 2022 and I wish I started it earlier more seriously as I would have even more money to buy things in Splinterlands. If you need any advice on how to start, feel free to comment below!

This is quite a comprehensive review. I do not play the game and I often read some players complain about bots. It's a shame if the tourneys are filled with them too. At least your account value has grown 😉 All the best to you on your battles and #hive on :)
