New Splinterlands Focus Points for Reward Chests
(Edited)
New Focus
- The new focus is on playing, winning, accumulating points and so on, with the chance to win lots of chests on days you just play a lot of matches, which is pretty cool.
- As a gamer I enjoy playing the game, and constantly having to check if I met a criterion is not fun.
- I want to chose my monsters based on their skills and ability, not because I need to play five sneak monster matches... so I am cool with this change.
New Rewards Rules, back to school, to learn the rules.
- I must admit my first reaction was the lazy gamer attitude: Oh man...I gotta learn new rules and stuff.
- Sorry, but when I game, I like to relax and just play.
- So the thought of having to learn some new game play rules was initially unappealing.
- But when I actually read a few posts, and then watched a few YouTube videos, then I was like okay, this is doable.
The Grind is back :)
- As I started playing and watching my reward chest bar fill up, I was like this is familiar...
- Oh yeah this is what gamers call the grind.
- You play a lot of games or matches to achieve leveled up or powerful characters.
- But here in Splinterlands it's to win rewards, and quite frankly... this is the kind of Grind I like.
- I am literally just playing lots of matches and winnning chests. Its cool.
The mystery of the value of chests at different levels has become a question, as people strategize to maximize rewards
- The sophisticated crowd in Splinterlands wondered if it was possible to extract more value by winning more matches at Bronze, versus winning less matches at Gold
- So in true splinterlands fashion, the new reward system has spawned new videos, with new excel spreadsheeets carefully analyzing the difference in value between Bronze, Silver and Gold reward chests.
- And these excel wizards have calculated the average value of 100 chests at level bronze, Silver and Gold.
- And they determined that a smaller number comparatively speaking of matches needed to win a Gold chests provided more valuable stuff then a larger number of Bronze chests.
- I understand that there are people who make a truckload of money in Splinterlands. So these seemingly esoteric details are actually important to these higher level earners.
- This type of intense love for the game and motivation to profit is a such a classic Splinterlands thing right?
- It's what made some of them Splinter Millionaires, so I just watch and listen.
Final thoughts
- I agree the jury is still out on the new Splinterlands Reward System.
- I still enjoy playing the game, and I know people complain about it being glitchy. But hey it's a video game, and there was a time, when as gamers we lived for finding glitches, and turning them into exploits right?
- Anyway... I like the new certainty of the the more I play, the more chests I get...providing I win LOL!
- This is a definate contrast to just having the chance to win daily chests and waiting two weeks for a big score!
- And some of my friends, play more then me, and they are very happy.
- So I am optimistic that I will love it in the end.
- How about you? How do you feel about the new changes?

I don't play but my wife does. We are mobile only as we can't afford a pc or internet. Focus doesn't work on mobile yet. This is frustrating. I wish splinterlands would choose to be mobile first.
Sorry about that, I hope mobile gets working soon for you guys, am actually not aware of that. Have you guys tired web on mobile? I know a friend that plays on mobile and is still play.
Am referring to web on mobile without the App.

She has, however screen size is an issue. Constantly having to zoom in and out and scroll around makes it very unpleasant and stressful.
For now she has elected to wait for the app to catch up.
Yeah I can imagine the trouble of having to go through that, it's better she decided to wait for Moblie launch, hopefully not for too long

Try this:
Log in via your browser and activate the Focus. Then you can also collect Focus points in the mobile app, even if it is not displayed.
Then you only have to collect the chests and the new focus in the browser every day. This is how I do it when I'm on the road
Thanks for the helpful tip.

My wife said thanks and you are her new hero. Lol
That sounds stressful.

I can understand your frustration. Leofinances Mobile version came out on android first, and I felt like second class. I hope Focus comes to mobile soon.

The first two days of the new system was met with not so cool kind of reaction from me, I think it has to do with learning new rules like you mentioned but from the third day I've gotten a hang of it and am actually loving it.
Opponents are on another level on competitiveness though.

I think the New Rewards system has gotten more people into the game and also brought old members back, so I agree the competition is tougher.

I don't really like it that much as it requires a lot more work and I feel like the drop rate has gotten worst. It just seems like way too much work but I do think I can get my original chest reward amount but it requires an extra 20-30 minutes a day. The rental market has also changed and it will be messing up my strategy.
