Splinterlands Second Season End: lessons learned

Intro

My second season ended today, it was a great season for strategy and learning, but some lessons are harder then others...
...here are some of my Newb insights and strategies for profiting from having fun playing.

One of the most important things I would like to share with you however before we get to strategy and earning money, is that the game is fun.

  • The graphics are great
  • The Lore is imaginative and creative
  • It's challenging to play, not a simple affair, but I think that's part of the attraction.
  • It's fun to earn cryptocurrency tokens on Splinterlands

Insights

  • First, placement, so important to keep range fighters on the end, and extra armor is key, as most with high speed and high attack have low health

  • Second, magic is one of the strongest forces in the Splinterverse

  • Third, anti-magic strategies exist and they are effective. Using births the minus one magic summoner, or oswhiler the magic reflector are viable strategies, as well as using monsters with void and high life to reduce the effect.

  • Fourth, my season strategy of renting all the cards I own but didn't use was successful in bringing me revenue daily through out the season, but I called back my cards to late, so I ended the season with 1400 rating points, but not enough cards to maintain silver 3, so I was bounced back to Bronze 1 and stripped of 1300 rating points, to start over at 100 rating points. Memo to self give 24 hours for cards to come back.

  • Fifth, as I start my new season, there are no dec, credit or card rewards at bronze 3 level. The war on bots has started and some of us novices are coming face to face with the new realities. It won't kill us to level up our rating points again, after all everyone does this every season, it just takes some getting use to the idea. This is only my second two week season, so forgive my small groans... LOL!

Revenue Generation on Splinterlands

Renting Cards

Renting cards on Splinterlands can run from 0.5 to 500 DEC per day. I have several doubles which rent very easily, plus I am building a collection of gold foil reward cards, which rent consistently for a few DEC a day. 30 cards, 30 DEC, 30 Days, and we are talking 900 DEC a month for renting DEC.

Staking SPS on Splinterlands

Staking SPS on Splinterlands yields a 60% APR which can be several DEC a day at 0.55 cents a DEC. These yields are great compared to your usual savings account yield of 0.5% per annum, or even stable coin yield farms of 10-15 %. Plus this staking yields vouchers for Chaos Legion cards, which currently sell for 22 Hive a piece on Hive-Engine.

Playing Splinterlands

...can easily earn you 5-20 DEC per match, depending on your level, gold card use, alpha promo card use, and other factors like guild, etc

Summary

So far there is much to learn about strategy and rules of Splinterlands. I am sharing some of my insights here as a Splinterlands Newb.

Earning so far from playing the game, renting cards and staking SPS are very profitable. But I feel like I am just scratching the surface here.

Splinterlands token SPS is down from a recent high of 1.00 plus, but I see that as a good thing, a time to buy!

Play to earn on Hive is a revolution, and I have joined the revolution. Change is the only constant in life, so we must always be willing to learn, grow and profit from change, especially when it's so much fun.

In Splinterlands as in life, every season is a learning experience. Play-2-Earn on Splinterlands looks very profitable, fun and exciting to learn all it's details, by immersing yourself in the game.

The End...for now.

A great post and glad your learning and enjoying the game.

You forgot to mention those SPT tokens you get for writing about the game :) They count towards your SPS airdrop which is great and you can exchange them for DEC/SPS or other crypto which is also awesome. Look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi @terganmarket
Thank you for the comment and compliment.
Also thanks for mentioning SPT, which I wondered about. Do you know of a chart or publication which explains the relative value of each of these components in the air drop calculation?
Thanks,
@shortsegments

(Edited)

I've seen one and will find it for you later today. However, with the SPT it is 4 spt to equal 1 dec in the calculation. Oops, someone beat me to it :)

Everyone has to fight their way back up but I don't think it will be that tough to bring yourself out of Bronze III. The start and end of the season is where I think things are the most competitive.

A game that keeps on giving to those devoted and implicated in it. Time and a good investment or early adoption are the ingredients for success!
